Vivitar Black and White film

Is there any way to age this stuff? It came inside an accessory kit of rhte vivitar v3800s i ended up with. Cute camera, ALMOST has a decent finger grip.

But the box of 100 iso 36 exposure black and white was un opened and had no date codes. There IS microscopic prining for copyright data that could be 2000, 2008, or even 2009. Im just wondering what is actually known on this film.

If you assume the film was purchased at the same time as the camera, then the camera's age will provide a maximum likely age of the film. But I couldn't find out when that camera was made; maybe you will fare better. Anyway, ISO 100 film ages better (i.e., fogs less) than high speed film, so I suggest shooting it at EI 50 or even 25 and you'll probably get acceptable results.

Had to pull out my d7500 and macro lens. its copyright 2009. Which is odd because they were supposedly NOT selling cameras after 2007. BUt the accessory kit was sold on its own. so the age works.

I havent had time to start making a new battery cap, but i had been thinking that using iso 100 and shooting 1/60 or 1/150

well learned alot about Vivitar film. And the camera.

The camera manual online does not completely jive with the camera. But thats typical.

Anyhoo, the test was a complete failure. The camera needs alot of narrow film leader to get it going. Otherwise it refuses to advance film. Only learned when i had the film counter go past 36.
I had been looking, and it had been rotating the wind up knob after closing the film door.

HOWEVER i learned something very very funny about the film cartridges and have brought us closer to knowing who made it...

When i took the film out of the camera, i squeezed the end to much and the top cap on the cassette CAME OFF... actually easier then the reloadable kodak pop top cannisters i have.. even easier then the reusable Ilford cannisters that came loaded with film.

who in 2009 was using canisters like that
