The film window is in the back of the camera. I'm sure you've seen them. What film window is in front of the film? Siriusly....

It depends on the RF camera. They are not all built the same way. The OP has not told us which camera has the problem.

Well, a film window is that little cutout in the back of the camera that shows you a part of the film cassette, so you can see what film is in the camera.
I don't know if any rangefinder camera has one.
Also, I know it's on the previous page and all, but:
