Quick question for the masses here: I just got an Kiev NC-2 style prism it has two strips of velcro on it, one along the top ridge and one on the front.

Before I go about the process of hopefully removing these without damaging the leatherette, can someone enlighten me as to what purpose they would have once served? Any useful reason to keep them there? I don't really mind them, so maybe I should leave well enough alone...

Well, mine has velcro on it to attach a battery holder for AA cells connected to a dummy battery in the prism.

Naptha is pretty good at removing most glue residue, but I don't know what it will do to your leatherette. Probably nothing, but I'd test in a small, inconspicuous spot before bathing the thing in it.

Well, it all may be a moot point, I think this is going to have to go back to KEH. The prism seems to have a modified prescription lens in the viewfinder, as I cannot get any focus unless I remove the eye piece altogether. I tried removing to see if there was a modifier (there wasn't-- single piece of glass) and flipping it (I read reports of some being upside down and preventing focus) but everything is evenly blurred, even when the ground glass is in focus.

Thanks for the thoughts all the same.

Definitely flash triggers, I have velcro dots on all my non-shoed cameras.

As long as were talking about Hasselblads, the other sneaky tip is to loop a strip of duct-tape around the little handle on the dark slide to make a pull tab. No more fiddling with the tiny handles when they lay flush against the body/back in cold weather/any time for that matter.
