I’ve been thinking of switching from PQ film developers (Ilfosol, Ilfotec, TMax) to MQ film developers (ID-11, D-76.) But I really enjoy the convenience of liquid concentrates. I just recently learned about Tetenal Ultrafin; and I believe it’s correct to say that regular Ultrafin (*not* Ultrafin Plus or Ultrafin T-Plus) is an MQ-based liquid concentrate.

Does anyone else on here use Tetenal Ultrafin to develop slow-to-medium speed film? Is the concentrate a liquid like Rodinal or is it more of a syrup like HC-110? And how do the final results compare to Ilfosol/Ilfotec PQ developers? Thanks!

Directions say that Ultrafin is a "universal" developer for black-and-white film. Dilutions range from 1+10 to 1+30.
[Note: I've corrected my earlier error in the interest of not spreading incorrect information - see below.]

It does appear to be an MQ developer from the MSDS.

It's film only developer. B/W negative developer is written on the bottle.

I still slowly using the bottle opened about 9 months ago. When the solution starts to discolour I'll no longer use it.

Ultrafin must be stored in a cool place, it will go bad relatively quickly, if it is yellow, everything is too late. Normally it is transparent with a violet shimmer, discoloration begins with a slightly yellowish tone.

I have just been sorting through some developers, and note that my container of Ultrafin has become discoloured with the 'yellowish' tone you mention. I will approach with caution.

The problem with Ultrafin is that there had been various compounds offered by Tetenal over the years bearing that name, at least two in parallel, being basically different developers:

Ultrafin und Aktivator , Ultrafin-Flüssig

Ultrafin-Flüssig , Ultrafin

Ultrafin Plus , Ultrafin SF Powder , Ultrafin Liquid

currently
Ultrafin , Ultrafin T-Plus

I have two bottles of Ultrafin by Tetenal here - one bottle with 'Ultrafin flüssig' written on it and another with 'Ultrafin Liquid' - it's definitely the same stuff.

I did not mean to say, that actually all products were different, but at least those offered in parallel were to my understanding. But thank you for clarifying one case, as I was not even sure for these two seen the designation history.

But for instance Ultrafin Liquid and Ultrafin SF are from different classes of developers.

I only used the 'Flüssig' and the 'Liquid' so far - I never tried Ultrafin Plus or the replacement Ultrafin T Plus, which are similar to the TMax developer (Dimezon-Hydrochinon) and are reportted to have a longer shelf life.
