Before I purchase, do any of you have experience with a photographic store selling used equipment named:
Ffordes Photographic Ltd
The Kirk, Wester Balblair,
Beauly, Inverness-shire

Not sure of this village/city location.

I've bought from them. The item was accurately described, fairly priced, and arrived on my doorstep the next day. Can't really ask for more than that!

Bought several high value cameras/lenses from them over the years. I highly recommend them.

I used to work for them in my youth. I have also used them recently as well. Excellent service. Steve Byford is an honest guy and describes the conditions well.

I bought my Bronica ETRS from Ffordes about this time last year. It arrived here in the Isle of Wight the day after being posted from Scotland.

The irony is that the next day I took it back to Scotland for a trip to Arran (I'm sure I've posted this before!). Scotland to the Isle of Wight is just about the two extreme points of the UK.

I found their service and knowledge to be excellent. I have not bought anything from them since but I regularly check their website and advert in AP to see if they have anything which I want and I would not hesitate to use them again.

Steve.

I can only agree with the others - bought both new and used stuff and I have always experienced a first class and fast service, very nice and helpful on the phone too.

I've bought from them a few times. Mostly good service (accurate descriptions, helpful staff, fair price, etc.), but when I bought a Rolleiflex 2.8 GX from them they didn't pack it properly and the shutter mechanism jammed in transit. While they repaired it for free without hesitation, their communication and customer management was dreadful. So I've mixed feelings. I'd probably use them again though for something I really wanted.

Sorry to hear that Ian-I've always found them very efficient and helpful and would definitely buy from them again (also MXV and Mr Cad).

So far I've had from them -

Mamiya C330s with 80mm lens
55mm Mamiya lens
180mm Mamiya lens
80mm Componon S enlarger lens
Rollei 35

All items were as-described or better, packed well and arrived very promptly, and I now refer to Ffordes as my 'pushers'...

Seriously though, I can't recommend them highly enough.

Best regards,

Frank

And I expect to see it all at Norfolk.

But, of course!

Mine will be the Ford Focus riding very low on its rear springs...

Wait a few days and the Partridge and Pear tree should turn up (Parcelforce probably lost the tree and refuse to carry livestock)...

Parcelfarce? Bleagh!

Actually, I am waiting on a delivery from the States of a replacement lens cap for the Rollei 35 (Rollei, what were you thinking when you designed that?! (...and I use the word "designed" in its loosest possible meaning)) and a hood for the Mamiya 55mm (lovely lens, but flares like John Travolta!).

Pardon my GAS...

Hmmm.....my 55mm seems pretty well behaved so far-have you got one of the older chrome ones?

Nope, nice black one.

Let's not hijack the thread though; it's probably just my cack technique (as usual!)
