This person on ebay is trying to sell an N80 w the kit lens for $2005. I recently bought the same kit for $30.

Not even free shipping! $12.55 to ship which means they are not insuring it to 'actual' value.

He/she declined my offer for $25. Maybe someone else here will have better luck?

It would not let me make an offer.

Obviously the seller has been trolling Photrio and realizes the are in possession of a hot commodity!!

Apparently you bought the budget version.
😆
I actually bought mine in 2001, and I've been trying to remember how much I paid for it. I think it was between 700-1000 USD. I bought it with one of the first salaries I earned in the US. It was quite an investment and the lady has served me well for 22 years. Here's to 22 more! 🥂

I bought my Nikon F-3 in 1981 under similar circumstances. Still have the receipt, and still have the memory of how many paychecks it cost. Still serving me well. I hope you have similar camera longevity!

B&H catalog from the era shows N80 was $340 new without lens or tax. That would be $600 now.

I posted about it in the other thread, but I bought two broken latch N80s ($25 total) on purpose because I wanted metal latch on them. It would be a shame to destroy plastic latches that were still intact.

Followup on the AA battery pack MB-16. I really , really, had breaking off the battery door to fit the AA pack. I'll just leave the battery pack attached semi-permanently to one of the cameras.

Oh, note to seller, there is no Nikon 28-90 lens...it is a 28-80...

It's the price we pay for participating in a forum 😁When this happens on e-bay I have seen it suggested that some form of money laundering or other nefarious activity may be going on. When you look at the ad on e-bay is there any music in the background like this😟

You mean from 2001? I wonder if my memory isn't accurate then! And yes, the kit lens is 28-80...

I don't know what the fuss is about, it's a classic film camera and who's going to say it's a rubbish camera and one day in the far future it won't be worth it? But maybe the eBay seller was writing down figures and transposed '2005', the year it was discontinued, with the going price?

The only seller feedback is from more than a year ago. May be a hijacked eBay account.

As we said in the motorcycle sales business, "There's an ass for every seat." Sooner or later, someone will buy it.

I just offered $27.50 with a note telling them "I'm being generous here"

Good luck! The last best offer I made was replied with a counteroffer that was 20% higher than the buy it now price. If they are a serious seller they will accept your offer!

These instructions for custom settings - which are available online for free - are an excellent addition to the $2005 N80 for only $630

Does it come with a Domke F2 bag stuffed with twenty dollar bills?

Actually, I think the only way to avoid scammers on ebay is to screen who bids on your item. Since there is no way to block bidders or viewers I think the only way to do this is make the price high and accept offers. That way you can screen out the dirtbags trying to get your item for free.

They didn't even call it rare. That has to be worth an extra grand.
