Actually, I think the only way to avoid scammers on ebay is to screen who bids on your item. Since there is no way to block bidders or viewers I think the only way to do this is make the price high and accept offers. That way you can screen out the dirtbags trying to get your item for free.

There is a difference between making your price high, and asking 80-100 times the going rate.
The scammer is this seller. But… the scam is out in the open, no surprises so it’s not really a scam.

I bet this guy is going through a divorce and is being told he has to sell his stuff and give half to the ex. He puts the price so high so no takers, and he gets to keep his stuff.
