Evening all.
I have picked up a Butcher & Sons "the national" currently with a 6" cooke Primoplane which i think is a little short, its definitely not the original lens, you should see the state of the Lens board its on
Couple of bits and pieces that need sorted on it but its largely okay. Pretty familiar with all the woodworking aspects including hide glue so can do a gentle touch repair to get it up and running.
Anyway
I can't start fixing things for now but i do have one question regarding tripod legs, it has a built in brass turntable "thingy" and i get how the seperate legs engage. But what strikes we as a bit sketchy is that nothing restricts the legs splaying to far? putting quite alot of stress on the relatively delicat brass ring. Is it really just the placement of the feet preventing the whole lot crashing down? Or have i missed something? If someone has a photo of it all together i would love to see it.
Quite fancy having a go at building a set of legs for it.
