triple toning what paper?

Hi,

I am a personal photo project for the family. I am trying to give it a little pop and warmth with sepia, selenium and then gold.
The negatives are a little thin because I was working with indoor lighting in a traditional Japanese home.
I used Tri-X and developed it in Xtol. I can print the negatives OK with split grade filters. little 00 filter for the highlights and then mostly 5.
I am working with

• Fomatone MG
• Moersch MT-3 sepia toner
• Adox Selenium toner
• Tetenal Gold toner

This paper reacts strongly to toners and I generally like it but the base itself is a little too warm for me. I wanted to create the warmth in the highlights with the toner, not have the entire base be an off white color.
I also tried Fomabrom which I had on hand, but that didn't show much change if any. Being a bromide paper I didn't expect it to do much.

I used MCC110 when it was still available. It had a nice bright base color and reacted well to toners.
Are there any other papers you guys can recommend for this process?

Ilford Art 300 - or MGWT. Does the sulphide/ gold thing really well - and controllably.

I like to split tone with thio then selenium, I have tried tri toning many years ago. I’ve always found warm papers unsuitable for split toning because no matter how little you bleach in weak bleach the paper invariably goes brown when redeveloped. For this reason I only use ilford MGFB classic as it is easy to just thio tone the highlights whilst keeping the paper base white and the rest of the image neutral and then the selenium goes to work on the darker tones. This gives the print a depth unobtainable without toning.

I kind of found the same issue with the brown highlights and Fomatone.

went to the store and picked up a box of MGFB classic. Solved all the issues.
Sepia now makes the highlights a warm yellow. I do a really quick dip in selenium only. I am not sure if I even see any difference. Maybe a little more contrasty.
I followed that by gold which makes the mid-tones a nice soft peachy color. I am not sure I am going to do all three toners for the project, but at least I know they work now on this paper.
Btw. I tried

1. Selenium 30sec --> wash
2. Sepia after 30sec bleach --> wash
3. Gold 1min

I don't see much red in the midtowns.

1. Sepia after 30 sec bleach--> wash
2. Selenium 30 sec --> wash
3. Gold 1min

In this order I get red tones in the mid-tones.
