Why not good?

And why would it be good with the shittiest technique and dilution possible (stand), but not good with double the concentrate?

Some of my best HP5 work has been developed with rodinal... so all I can say is that it works quite well.

It works great in Rodinal 1+100 stand. But agreed, for regular Rodinal use at 1+25 or 1+50 with normal development, it's not good.

I tried stand at 1/100 2 or 3 times, with my regular Fomapan 400, but while there was plenty of detail, I lam impatient, and 60 minutes is to long to wait to get that first peek at the negatives

Your "shittiest technique" (awesome way to contribute to a civilized discussion BTW) has produced good results for me and lots of others. I'm glad regular dilutions works for you! I haven't had that luck with it. To each their own.

You are either very lucky or easily pleased, even Ilford don't recommend HP5+ in rodinal, unless you over develop by a long way you can't get great negatives on HP5 with Rodinal, or, I never have been able to, in most other developers yes, but it doesn't seem to suit HP5, this from a very long term user of Rodinal, I have used HP5+ along side other films, but admit not for many years, since I found Fomapan,, although pretty much every other film I have used produces terrific negatives with Rodinal, HP5+ although a great film, always produced very thin negatives, lacking detail, just one of those things, unless, of course, Ilford has changed the film in the last few years without telling anyone

Yep, same. My experience is thin negatives with thick grain. AFAICT you take a noticeable speed loss for HP5+ in Rodinal. But if someone is getting good results, then by all means keep doing what you are doing! I just wouldn't counsel anyone to go that route that hasn't already been doing it.
