I have the other portfolio, and it is really nice. There is some beautiful work in here. Where is it headed now?

Wow, we're almost there with Portfolio II. The last four in order are--

JohnZ
John McCallum
Sean
gbenaim

I'll PM JohnZ and you to get his current contact info.

Lee's sitting out this round, so Portfolio I should be on its way soon from ronlamarsh to kwmullet. After that David Vickery and Jim Chinn are up.

Hey all,

I haven't gotten word back about a shipping address from David Vickery. I suspect he doesn't have his ears on. His last apug activity was about a year ago. I've asked David Goldfarb for David V.'s E-Mail and postal addresses. If they're available, I'll E-Mail him and send him a postcard and see if he wants in on the portfolio.

In the meantime, since Jim Chinn is next after David V., I'd like to round up his E-mail and postal address information as well, as a contingency plan.

Jim Chinn: could you PM your E-Mail and exact postal address to me?

Thanks,

-KwM-

If he hasn't been on APUG for a year and hasn't responded, then I'd say let's move on to Jim Chinn, and if David V. gets back in touch, we can slip him back into the order.

Wither Traveling Portfolio III?

David Vickery
I tried contacting David Vickery via his "send E-Mail to" link on his apug profile, but it shot back with a message that the user does not wish to be contacted via E-Mail. On the Large Format Photography list, I did find a David Vickery that, like the one on apug, seems (to me) to be living in Texas. His profile there seemed to have a working mailto link, so I sent off a message asking him to chime in on apug, but haven't seen anything yet. (I could have sworn I already posted these details, but I didn't see it in the thread, so if this ends up being mostly redundant, my apologies.)

Jim Chinn

David G. indicated that Jim Chinn was next in line, so I sent him a PM. He just replied to me that he wishes to sit this round out.

Who's next in line?
I get the impression from (there was a url link here which no longer exists), that the remainder of this photographic portfolio's procession proceeds thus:

kwmullet <- It came. I saw. I contributed. I can't get rid of.
David Vickery <- out of contact. Off apug for about a year.
<- I'm guessing Jim Chinn got inserted here.
John McCallum <- Are we here now?
matt miller
Bruce (Camclicker)
GradyO
Mike Troxell
Gay Larson
John Zdral
wfe
Mick Fagan

David G., is John McCallum next in line?

Just for good measure, would John McCallum and matt miller each PM me their E-Mail and exact postal addresses? I'll also request same in a PM.

Thanks,

-KwM-

Kevin--

I think that was the tentative list. The current list is--

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

so we've got--

kwmullet
David Vickery
Jim Chinn
Alex Hawley
Joe Lipka
chuckp
JD Callow

That would make Alex Hawley next, and I'm fairly confident that he'll be in, since he's active on APUG.

I think with the remaining participants in this round still to go, the portfolio is going to be closer to 1 1/2 years, or even longer.

Nothing wrong with that, just an observation. I'll start thinking, and maybe shooting, what I'll put in for the next round, during our Christmas summer holiday.

Mick.

Yeah, I'm not sure how to make it go faster, with the whole shipping process.

This time around, I'm taking a more active role confirming addresses and participation with each shipment, so at least it doesn't disappear for months at a time, as it used to when we just posted an address list and let everyone handle it on their own. I'm amazed that we haven't lost it completely.

David G.

I'm sure I'm one of many that appreciates the hands-on involvement and management of the Member Organized Function process managers. Democracy's for the birds. I'll take a benign dictatorship, at least where
apug projects are concerned.

Alex,

I'll commit to shipping you the portfolio this weekend. Unless something crazy happens, I'll post a link to the thread to track it on its happy path.

John and Matt,

Sorry about my cluelessness. I couldn't find a clue with both hands if it was clue rutting season and I was smeared with clue musk. Someone should hit me with a clue-by-four.

cheers,

-KwM-

Alex and Joe Lipka have checked in, and Joe will be sitting out after he gets the portfolio this round, so chuckp and jd callow are up after Joe.

I'm still in. Not sure how long it will take to get through Alex and Joe but I'll be out of town around Christmas. So if it comes that soon I'll need to delay shipping until after the holidays.

Good day,

Is there room for additional participants? What would I need to do in order to join the crowd?

Best,

Just send me a PM with your name, mailing address, e-mail address and phone number, and I'll add you to the list. Depending on where the portfolios are currently, you may not see it for several months. It generally takes a year or so for each portfolio to make a complete round.

David,
I checked the list you refer to and find I'm in the first poosition for portfolio #2. I haven't seen a portfolio in over 2 years.

Am I waiting for portfolio 2 or has it passed me by? Or was that portfolio 2 I saw at your place?

Bruce, I think that's the one you saw at my place. You brought your print to put in. At the time, actually, there was just one portfolio, but after the last round, I split it into two and added everyone on the waiting list, so that both portfolios would have something there for the people at the top of the list and to keep the mailing order reasonable.

Was the last gathering at my place Feb. 2006? Boy, it has been a while. Then there were a few months while we were sorting out the next round for the split, so it got moving in July 2006.

Maybe it's taking a year and a half, even with tighter management of the list than we used to do. There are around 15-20 participants per portfolio, figure each has it for two weeks (some take more than a month, though, and a few can move it along in a week), and a week for mailing (a little less within a single country, but more for the transoceanic hops). I don't suspect another split on the next round, and we've managed to avoid building up a waiting list just by adding new participants to the existing lists, so the turnaround on the next round should be seamless.

David,
I think that's it. In Feb 2006 I brought a pint to add to your place.

So I've seen it..... I'm not waiting to see a portfolio....?

I need to wait to see a portfolio, will you add me to the list? Would that then be Portfolio 3?

You're at the top of the list, so it comes back to you on round 4 (we may just give up on "round" numbers, since the two portfolios will probably move at different rates).

Here's the list--

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

I think JohnZ has it, and then it's off to New Zealand and maybe Israel if I'm not mistaken, and then you're up, so just three people, but a couple of long trips in there.

It occurs to me that what we can do, if Porfolio I is running faster than II is move gbenaim from II to I, since this is his first round, and he doesn't already have a print in either portfolio. When I gets to JD Callow, we'll see where II is and maybe make the shift then.

Okay, JohnZ and ChuckP have confirmed receipt of the portfolios, so we're moving right along.

Of all the Texans participating, who is in Houston or close to Houston, so I can figure out where to put another participant in the order for the next round? Feel free to PM if you would rather keep your location private.

Things are moving right along. ChuckP is ready to ship to JD Callow. JohnZ is shipping to John McCallum. JohnZ should also be acknowledged for purchasing a new case for Portfolio II after accidentally damaging the old one (no harm done to the prints). Thanks JohnZ!

I've moved gbenaim from Portfolio II to Portfolio I, so they'll finish at about the same time, and I've added Markus Albertz to the list for the next round in Portfolio II.

You can find the updated shipping order at--

Okay, a lot of people traveling this time of year. gbenaim isn't available to receive the portfolio at the moment, so I've moved Markus Albertz to Portfolio I, if he's ready, and then it can go to gbenaim, or if he's not back yet, it can go back to me, and I'll move gbenaim up in the list for the next round.
