TRAVELING PORTFOLIO PROJECT

The case is in excellent condition. The prints are in excellent condition and David did an excellent job selecting this case.

Aggie,
I think it is made be Temba.

It's a Tenba Port-Air Fedex. They also make one called the Tenba Port-Air without airbill window designed to be checked on a plane (hmmm... say you've got your fancy camera and your portfolio on a trip, and you're only allowed one carry-on--which do you check?). Best price I found was at B&H. I don't think it comes in 16x20.

The alternative was a more traditional art shipping case, but those are heavier (more postage), cost about the same, and have long straps usually that look like they could get caught in things. They do come in 16x20".

Since I am next on the list, I had a sudden realization that my prints may not fit in the case. I am one of those nuts who shoot ULF sized negs - mostly 7x17 and 12x20. What is the maximum dimension of the case? You guys may be getting to see some of my sub-miniature work - you know, 5x7 or something.

Clay

Maximum size is 11x14".

Clay,
Look for it tomorrow. Wed. The case should be there.

It is here. There is some really nice work in there! I'm printing my contribution tonight, along with some (gasp!) digital negative stuff I have been working on. At least the print is real chemistry. I'll try to keep it moving and get it out by the end of the week or early next.

Good to see it is making its way down the list!

The portfolio is moving once again, and headed to Idaho. Sorry to take so long to get it out. I had the print done last Thursday, but 'busy life syndrome' caused a little delay. I'm headed out the door right now to a wedding in the Washington DC area. I hear there are some monuments and stuff there. Is that right?

Clay

Monuments and tripod restrictions, yes.

Yeah Clay, please send us a snapshot of you handholding the 7x17 while taking a pic......

holy mackeral! It's almost ready for the trans-pacific jump!

Better start thinking about my print...

What's the general method of mounting been?

Either dry mount it on a board, or hinge mount it to a window, just not both. Also, most people have put their photos in clear bags for protection.

Brian

I hinge mounted mine to a backing board with a window matte hinged to that. There's room for everyone to use two 4-ply boards if they want.

Folks, we have one more spot available on the portfolio, please PM or email me if interested, I'll add the names into a hat and draw the lucky winner tomorrow afternoon.

Brian

Thanks for the heads up jdef. It is hard to believe that we are over halfway through the first go around. I look forward to seeing what has been contributed.

Received the portfolio today in excellent condition. Upon a quick look at the work it is a wonderful mix of subject matter, styles, formats and printing methods. Great work by everyone. I now know what OleTj meant when he said he discussed the prints with his wife but the discussion was mostly about the print he included. Ole, you are quite right, gorgeous tonality!

I will be showing the prints to a some local photography friends Monday evening. If anyone is shy about showing their work outside the portfolio group let me know and I will leave it out, but I think they all merit a look by like minded individuals.

I showed the work to a couple of friends in town and they were impressed with the quality and variety of the work. I am going to reprint an older negative that has more of an abstract quality. Will print today and get it finished Thursday, so I hope to have the protfolio on its way to Joe Lipka via UPS 2 day air on Friday, will arrive NC Tues before 5:00pm.

If you want it shipped to any other address then already listed Joe, Email me before noon Central Time.

Enjoy!

Jim - Thanks for letting me know it's on the way. I will be looking for it next Tuesday. Maybe I can get a couple of friends to share the joy. Now comes the decision on what print to include in the portfolio.

Woo hoo.

Just to update everyone, the portfolio case is on its way to Joe Lipka in NC and will arrive on Tuesday. Enjoy!
