I would like to show how developing the negative is only half way job done, and to have fun in the process:

How about traveling negative: I will send one negative to one APUGer, he/she prints it, shows the print in this thread, and then he/she sends it to another interested APUGer, and it travels around the globe .

Anybody interested?

darko, is this the same idea as this one? (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Yes, very similar - I did not know about this thread, I knew about traveling camera only.
But anyhow - let's see how many are willing to jump in...

Color me in.

Sounds like a great idea. I'm interested.

I was thinking about 35mm negative. Since we have some interested APUGers already - I will start. First post gets the negative and then it goes on next:

I will sent it to NedL
then NedL will send it to antmar
antmar to the next one ...
...
...

I will PM NedL for the shipping address.

Quick question.......... what do we do with the prints? Sent our version along with the neg to the next in line? Send it to the OP?

Would be nice to see the different interpretations (and growth of scratches and dust :confused:smile: here ...

But sending them all to the OP sounds like a great reward for providing the negative !

Are you going to write some rules up? Size of print, RC vs Fiber or it's all up to the printer?

Ben

Rule is that there is no rule . You can use RC, FB, Lith print, expired paper, liquid emulsion ... actually the more diverse - the better, so that we can see what difference the same negative can produce.
I will ship the negative to Ned soon. If somebody wants - they can ship me the print (very happy to receive it), but it is not a must .

if this is still possible, I'd like to be counted in! I need to practice printing, and am sure this is a great way!

Sure . I will send negative to Ned next week, then it will go from person to person... how fast will reach you ... it is not important, we are analog photographers, we have patience .

Sending the prints along is a nice idea, but not practical. It would increase the shipping costs in the end quite a bit (specially if someone makes larger prints)

This idea is wonderful and I'm waiting the results eagerly (and to get my hands on the negative and participate as well). Should we add the scans here or maybe a flickr group or something?

Good because I might not make a traditional print! Depending on the negative I might try something a bit "different"... we'll see. I'm looking forward to this and I think the "traveling negative" is a great idea.
