OK, here we are in the new (2020) Toy Camera Print Exchange Thread. Thanks to Matt King's suggestion, and my learning how to bumble through these threads.

So far, the interested parties are myself (mfohl), Terry (tezzasmall), and Uwe (piu58). With interest from AndyH and Matt King. Matt apparently wrestling with a house move.

I've participated in print exchanges in the past (haven't for several years, mainly at LFF), but never a toy, box, pinhole print exchange. I've got a couple of images that could work... I just may be interested...the print would probably be an alt print... Kallitype, or something like that.. Are Hybrid images allowed (film capture/digital neg)

From the 2016 revival thread for these exchanges:
Exchange Rules:
1) It is a toy camera exchange, so the rules are minimal.
2) The original image must be shot with an analogue toy camera.
3) it doesn't have to be an new print, you may use your archive as well.
4) You can send the same print to everyone, or different ones to each. You choose.
5) Form, size, format, mounted or not, b/w or color, straight print or alt-photo, ....: you choose the way you'd like to print.
6) Homemade prints or pro lab are both fine. Please no inkjet prints.
7) You're kindly requested to comment on the received prints in the TCP-2016 thread (yet to be opened).
8) If anything else comes up, I'll let you know.
9) Did I mention that toy camera and print exchanges are fun??

I have no problem with an intervening digital negative, as long as the origin is analogue, and the result is not inkjet.

I would love to see an alt print!

Gee, if I knew there were this many rules, I might not be doing this ...

But seriously, Folks, these are all good rules. I might add that pinhole images are included.

And the way I did it last time was that I randomly paired names so that each participant would send only one print. Is that OK? Or is sending to everyone preferable? We had 9 participants last time.

Pairs would be better for me as I really don't want to make multiple alt prints, especially carbon transfer... But you guys decide.

Toy cameras are a open question to me, for example, I know my Diana qualifies, but what if I want to use a old Argus 127/120, or a Kodak Pony?

Would these, once mainstream cameras be eligible, because of plastic bodies, or is there a short list of cameras which you are referring to, by the phrase "toy camera"?

Cheers.

Hi Eli, I think "toy cameras" are definitely an open question. And I know of no such short list. Probably anything with a plastic body is eligible, especially if the lens is also plastic. Definitely jump in if you want, and just describe the camera that you used. Maybe some of the members will howl if your image quality it too high …

Cheers.
I'm in too!

When will we see a deadline for prints?

According to the rules: Last time I had to sen print(s) to one single addressee. You wrote
> You can send the same print to everyone, or different ones to each. You choose.

Does that mean I have to send a print to everyone, like in PCX? That would be too much for me.Usually, I send two or three prints to one destination.

I don't know yet. It depends on what the group wants to do. From your comment, I think you want to send one print to another participant. Either way is OK by me. Depends on what the group wants to do.

I too think one print to one person would work best for some, so I'm happy with that.

Also, I use 'toy' plastic cameras, but at the moment am trying out an old and a very old 'box brownie' type camera. Both have very basic plastic lenses, so I presume that they would be allowed to be used? The one I'm about to try, I expect it will produce soft to just in focus type prints looking at it, so one can't get any more 'toy' / basic than that! No worries if you want everyone to stick to plastic cameras and lenses, as I have a few of them.

I used a Brownie Hawkeye in the last exchange.

I have a Holga, Holga wide pinhole, Brownie Hawkeye, and Target... but I think the Target has a glass lens.. but the images look like they had been shot with my Holga (not sharp, light fall off at edges...). It's a single meniscus, so maybe any toy cameras with such a lens could be permitted?

Any of the above would qualify ….

OK Folks, last call! More participants are welcome! Over the weekend I'll send PMs verifying addresses. Then I'll figure out exchangees, with help from a random number generator.

I'm excited!

I’m afraid I don’t have a camera that would qualify, and no capacity for analog printing at this time, so I’ll have to beg off.

I have been waiting for an excuse to get into pinhole photography.....this is it
Count me in for one photo to send and one to receive.

I am off, shopping for a nice 6x6 pinhole camera...
