Those little gold stickers

The very first thing I did any time I bought a new camera or lens the first thing I did was strip off that little gold sticker. Sometimes I think I might be the only one who did/does that.

Ahhh, the infamous oval gold JCII stickers. I'd always peel them off when I used to buy equipment, but now I leave them alone. Funny how annoyances turn to nostalgia sometimes.

Possibly illegal to sell new without them but once you own it, you can do what you like with it.

I figure it's a good indicator of a camera's "privileged" lifestyle. I have a number of my dad's lenses with the sticker still attached.

Goo Gone is a citrus de-greaser cut with a glycerine.

Far better is a product called Citra Solv. This stuff dies wonders on old foam seals.

I hate leaving stickers on things and I detest seeing clear(ish) protective film left on things such as display windows. And don't get me started on people who buy a new car and leave the plastic covering on the seats.

Someone at work has a friend who was boasting about the blue anodised aluminium logo on his new phone until he peeled off the blue film to reveal its true aluminium colour.

I usually leave them on and don't bother with them. I can see how it can help resale value, if the sticker is pristine or has little handling use or fading, the lens or body probably was little used or taken care of well.

This is too much
The lower the quality of the camera or lens the harder is to remove the sticker. at least this is going on in my collection
