I'm using a Reflex-Korelle 6x6 from probably the 1930s. There is a female screw component for a cable release, but it's so tight against the body of the camera that I can't manage to thread my normal cable release. The sheath and head are just too wide to get in there properly, but it looks like the threads would match up if the camera architecture were different.

Someone told me that I need a thin cable release and that it is called a cloth cable release (because of the cloth sheath). Does anyone know about thin cable releases and will any "cloth cable release" do the trick?

You might try a Gepe flexible cable release extension. These have a small head and are made for fitting in tight spaces, like a Linhof recessed lensboard.
