Apparently Amazon is desperate to boost Prime membership as that program is floundering.

I ordered the new Taschen Ralph Gibson book. Probably the last one from Gibson I will get. I have quite a few. My favorite book of all I own is Deus Ex Machina Gibson/Taschen. I'm hoping the new one is even better. 500 pages is pretty hefty. Looking forward to it.

I was going to order the Moriyama book but decided to wait.

I also picked up a copy of Art Can Heal by Adams at my local Goodwill bookstore.

In other, more personal, photobook news, just received the two Mark Ruwedel books I ordered from Mack, Rivers Run Through It and The Western Edge. Got his Seventy-Two and One Half Miles Across Los Angeles, also from Mack, a few months ago.

Really like his work.

Is it me or are photobook prices out of control? I just saw a post from Gost Books that the new Don McCullin book, The Stillness of Life, is now available. The book is 112 pages with 58 images. The Standard edition is $100! When did a basic photo book cross the $100 threshold?

There's a signed edition for $110 which is certainly worth the small price increase over the Standard edition. If you are a BIG fan, there's a super-duper Special Edition of 12 for $2950 with this description:

Clothbound clamshell box with a hardback, clothbound signed book and a 15’’x17’’ silver gelatin print, signed (only) and printed by Don McCullin in his darkroom.
Print: “Old apples, windfall from my garden in my garden shed”

I agree. And since they are often issued in limited numbers, prices for some of them double, triple, etc., as soon as they hit the used market.

Yes. But Don not so "basic." I wanted a copy of his "Journeys Across Asia Minor," now available on Amazon for $125.87, knocked down from $140. That's still a bit too expensive for me.
