I have Land, The Edge of Land and The Remains of Elmet. Each has its own appeal. The Remans of Elmet has poems by Ted Hughes, but I find the reproduction or the selection of photos to be on the dark, dreary side. Land is a great book for pure landscape. The Edge of Land has a much more varied collection of her photos, including beach scenes, people, ships and of course landscapes and seascapes. That last one is probably my favorite.

I have a paperback of Land. It cost me I think 20£ from Amazon.co.uk. The photography itself I find a bit cliché. I don't pick it up that often.

Are the other ones by her mentioned above more 'out there'?

I've been hesitating between Land and Our Forbidden Land, both of which pop up at reasonable prices on the used market. I'll probably end up getting both...

Amazing book. The master printer and master photographer Dave Heath. Pretty rare (and expensive) book was lucky to get it from a library

It is a superb book. I can't believe it has been ten years ago now but there was an excellent show at the PMA of his work, including complete prototype books displayed in sequence on the walls. Terrific show.

Me too, I need to stop looking at this thread also LOL, although I had never involved in the discussion here, but I read and learn from your reviews day in and day out , and quietly order those books that were being praised and recommended here. Mind you I can only afford the lower priced ones but hey that's a start of book collecting. Thank you all. I just ordered the "Land" and "Our forbidden land" . Just waiting for them to arrive.

I recieved the books from the Yale sale. Looks like they are competing with Amazon for packing. Just threw them in a box with minimal padding. The corners of the Penn book were rounded over a bit. I get books to look at so I don't really care but thought others should know.

As far as the books go, the Penn Centennial book is a must have. I doubt a better book will be made on his work overall. I enjoyed the Kertesz Postcard book. I've always loved those early prints of his. There is some fascinating history in it too. The Adams What We Bought is pretty good. It will probably grow on me. A lot of the images weren't very strong but it is in depth for that time period of his work. Surprisingly dense. The last part of the book with darker images I quite enjoyed. The images were almost like a separate book. If you like Adams it is a no brainer for the price.

That's disappointing. I ordered books from them during one of last year's sales and I don't recall the packing being poor. At least none of the books arrived damaged, but I may have been lucky. Packing books safely for shipment is such an easy thing to do, I'm surprised more book publishers don't care enough to do it. My books are scheduled to arrive tomorrow so we'll see how things go.

I ordered some books from David Zwirner Books last year and they were packed poorly and came damaged. I contacted them and they replaced the damaged books without any hassle. If the damage to your books bothers you, try contacting YUP and see if they'll replace them.

I enjoyed the Kertesz Postcard book. I've always loved those early prints of his. There is some fascinating history in it too.

I bought that book last year and enjoyed it much more than I expected.

I just saw an announcement from Steidl about a new book titled The Discovery of Form which pairs the work of Robert Adams and Josef Albers. It's the catalog for an exhibition of the same name at Zander Galerie in Cologne.

I've got a ton of Adams books so this probably isn't one I'm going to purchase, but if you're an RA completist then it might be of some interest.

I feared the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that my shipment (3 books) came through unscathed. The box looked like hell when it arrived, and I took a few pictures of it in case I would need to file a claim or something. It looked as though it fell off at least one or two trucks or loading docks before it got to me, but fortunately YUP used a properly oversized box with some cushioning stuffed in there.
