The 'new' camera uses 127 film...now what?

After way too much time poking around Ian's OneTwoSeven web site, I finally broke down and got myself and basic 127 box. It's nothing much to look at but, it does apear to be in good working order. It has guess focus, two shutter speeds (1/100 & 1/50) and two aperature settings (f/8 and f/16).

OK, I know what to do next. I'm gonna get on over to J&C and buy some film.

I'd like to shoot color print film and wonder if anybody has tips on where I can get it processed?

w.r.t. B&W, Efke R100 looks like the thing to shoot. Anything I should know about processing, handling etc...? I normally shoot Ilford FP4 or Tri-X and process in HC-110.

We used to process 127 color print in our C41 machine at the store we worked at, if they have the canisters to process 120, any lab worth anything should be able to process 127 as well.

getting colour processed (as Dave says) us really more about attitude than equipment - any lab should be able to handle it technically.

However we have two local pro-labs - one (where we send a lot of commercial work) does that draw breath through the teeth thing, and sugguests that they might be able to do it if we're really stuck, but they'd rather not. The other smiled the first time I walked in and said "cool - we'll have a crack at it, should be fun".

Unfortunatly the second lab only do e6 (and are more expensive, but good), otherwise they'd get a lot more work from us. It really comes down to finding a lab tech with a good attitude who's prepared to make a bit more of an effort to get your buisiness.

Thanks for the insight Ian and Dave. I'm thinking of shooting a roll and dropping it off, straight faced, at the corner drug store...hey, they still do my Kodachrome. Else, I'll have to sweet talk my friends at E&J in Dublin.

127 is esentually the same processing as 120, you put it in the 120 canister tape it to the card if they are using a commercialy processing machine and the machine does the rest, wal la, about 10-15 minutes later, it comes out the other end, cut off the card and if they have a 127 carrier for their print machine, then they can do prints for you as well, we used to do it all the time, there was no more trouble to do 127 than any other film.. heck we used to do 110 and 126 the same way!

Just process it yourself. C-41 isn't that hard.

Find a lab that does dip and dunk and have contacts made. If they refuse they are idiots.

C41 is really easy. If I can do it then monkeys can learn it.
