So, by now many of us have experienced the "snow" (or chicken pox) effect that effects affects certain Ilford 120 films. For me personally, I've had the issue on Fp4+ - so much so, that I am giving it a miss for a while. What stocks I have will not be used on anything important and I can't risk purchasing any more for now (I had to buy k..k...k...kodak! Phew - I managed to say it)

So, I am curious to understand what films people have seen this issue on? I know people have also reported seeing it on PanF, but has anyone had the same issues with Delta 100?

Cheers.

Thank you for your input. Jibberish is my native tongue
It happens to all of us at times. Although… I seem to recall a British member stating that they are immune to such issues.

Yes… returning to normal programming….

I’ve not seen such problems with 2-year old FP4+ or brand new PanF.

And never had a problem with any Ilford colour film.

Ironically, Ilford colour film is perfect!

Re, Fp4+ - I suspect that how long I have the film is not helping, but that is something I can't just change - I'd rather have a film that is going to be stable for a reasonable period.

Its a shame, as FP4+ has been a long time favourite of mine. Thankfully, in sheet sizes, its fine and I don't have an issue with it.

Thank you - I'll correct the title and first post.
If someone hadn't commented, I was just going to bite my tongue!

I've used many if the films that have been affected, but never experienced the issue. Knock on wood.

Same, and same,

Maybe lucky, though. Haven't been doing too much Ilford in 120 recently and I probably jinxed it by saying this, but I didn't see the problem when I was shooting it over the summer. I do have several rolls of Delta 100 waiting to be used, and I think 2 more each of PanF and of FP4 in 120. Fingers crossed they are as good as the stuff I've been shooting in 135 lately.

I’m a magnet for wrapper offset and other 120 issues.

I’ve had a bad roll of FP4 (snow).
I’ve had bad rolls of Tri-X (“KODAK” all over my negatives).
I’ve had bad Foma 100, 200, and 400 (snow, scratches).

HP-5, though? Never. (Fingers crossed).

I see LF at some point in my future.

You'll be the only one who gets a light-leak in the bellows.

Sorry to say, Delta 100 is not immune either. I had a roll with the dreaded markings on it, which was replaced by Ilford.
Note, this was in 2020, but was unexpired film at that time.
There's been no problem with the replacement film.

OK, thanks for that.

Looks like age and storage seem to most certainly accentuate the issue. This is good information.

I've mentioned elsewhere here that I had the problem with in-date Pan F Plus, direct from Harman's online store, and well stored by myself. In the past I have seen the issue once or twice with Delta 100 but this may well have been with expired stock.

I’ve had this on 120 TX that was about 3 years past it’s expiry date. Actually I don’t mind the KODAK faintly in the sky.

Is this a current issue?

I remember some problems with Ilford 120 a few years ago. Did the problems never go away, or have they come back? Or is it a new issue, or is it old film?
