Thank you, MrclSchprs. You may well be the first person to order a copy. At least you're the first person to post that you did. After a flurried last minute back and forth between Bill and me it has finally been shipped to the publisher. My guess is it will be shipping in March. You can see what the cover will look like here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1138204870/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00

I have the first edition, bought nearly 20 years ago when I was fresh out of art school. One of the most interesting books that I have ever seen on the subject of film developing. I learned a lot about photochemistry from it, and I can't wait to have the second edition!

My pre-order is in. I guess this means I can retire my dog-eared 1st edition. I doubt I've owned mine as long as Chris but it has been awhile.

Looking forward to a fresh edition to mark up.

It is so gratifying for Bill and I to hear about experiences like this. Thank you for sharing.

You can add me to the list. I just pre-ordered my copy. I'll just re-read my copy of the Darkroom Cookbook 4th edition a few more times while I wait!

Very funny, Stephen.

Don't retire it yet, Pioneer. You never know when you might drop the new ed. in the soup.

Thank you, craigclu. I have always found Amazon to be less than Focal/Routledge, at least on the Darkroom Cookbook. I didn't even bother to look at the Focal site.

Good news ! I worked with Crawley's FX2 developer in my master's thesis on stand development because of the first ed of this book. And it really helped me understand how developers works. Thanks !

@craigclu Thanks for that post it was $10 cheaper for me to pre-order from the publisher compared to amazon. Shipping was free to Canada.
Yep, I just ordered from these folks as well. Free shipping and no state sales tax. I've used nothing but XTOL for the last 20 years, but I love these books.

I pre-ordered just now as well. Previous versions are so worn out, with stains from developers and chemicals on some pages, but I still read them cover to cover at times. No photography developing class was so thorough.
