Yeah, except I should have written "principle"! :surprised: (damn!)

I detect a Freudian slip, George. Perhaps Sean is the principal of this site of unruly kindergarteners?

Remember, sometimes a zoom lens is just a zoom lens . . . .

I thought it kind of amusing that after a long thread of good natured fun poking at APUG, the moderators on the LF forum took the rather draconian step of closing the thread. I guess for all those over there who worry about censorship over here should be wary... very wary over there.

The LF forum doesn't seem to have the acrimonious fights (train wrecks, more accurately) that happen here periodically, though.

Jim- if you thought that was good-natured fun-poking, I'd hate to see what you call degrading invective.

That thread was just plain B** A** nasty.

Yes but it had folks I had forgotten about climbing out of the wood works. Out of all of them I realized I only miss Jorge's presence around here.

I am sure the guy with multiple personalities is here somewhere though.

So, it's smaller and not where most APUG members want to be, although many of us are members. It also harbours a few disgruntled ex members.

This forum is a bit of a dichotomy, by that I mean there are a lot of very committed photographers working at all levels, plus a lot of people dipping their toes into Analog photography, and then on top of that there's a few malcontents making the board less friendly.

If I was being totally honest I'd say some should be unbanned and told if they wish they can come back. I've actually been very surprised by the attitudes of two prominent ex-APUG'ers on the board.

On that board they are no problem.

A bit of food for thought.

I was being a wee bit tongue in cheek. But I don't take such things all that seriously. I imagine all those folks taking shots at APUG probably visit over here quite often. (or the hybrid site). So regardless if they post to threads or not, I suppose page lookups they perform helps Sean's numbers with advertisers which in the long run is good for all of us.

I sure hope if they buy Ilford products, or ressurected Agfa products ( or any other number of materials) they post a thank you over here. All these products might still be around or coming on line without APUG, but I believe this community played a big role in encouraging their continuation, development and demonstrating a market exists out here.

Jorge is one person that I was very sorry not to meet at the APUG conference , I hope to meet him at 2008 conference and if not, if I am ever in Mexico I will look him up.
Very talented platinum printer and I would love to see his prints .
Have to admit , wouldn't want to get in an argument with him.

Some of my favorite art is by people I wouldn't want to share a room with.

Of course, loving to argue, sometimes my favorite evenings are arguing with people I totally disagree with. The trick is finding people who don't take it personally.

Calling it "debate" implies we're limiting it to being civilized and being truthful.

I have one friend that always use statistics, usually of dubious or instantaneous origin, to back up his arguments. One friend disarmed him with the rely, "Sure, but 78 percent of statistics are made up . . . "
