I was always taught to wear at least two pairs of walking socks, this allows your feet to breathe better. Surpisingly it also keeps your feet cooler.

It also causes any movement to rub sock to sock instead of skin to sock so reducing the chance of blisters.

I can't help with the odour control though. I wear gortex lined walking boots all day instead of regular shoes and I have not had any problems.... at least, no one has mentioned it.... perhaps they don't want to get too close!

OK...I'm starting to take this a bit personally. It's not my fault. My feet are not to blame. In fact, they are sweetly aromatic in their naked state, a foot fetishists dream I dare say. It's the boots. It's the moisture trapped between the layers of the outer 'cordura', the Goretex, and the inner lining...really...really, really. There is nothing gnawing at my feet. It's the fact that the boots haven't fully dried out in over a month.

Sheesh, good thing I haven't mentioned my other problem...when is anti-Viagra hitting the market anyway?

Murray

when my trainers start to get a bit smelly I run them through the washing machine. Then when dry do waht I said in previous post. If your boots are cordura they should be OK with that.

P.S. Have you bought a new hat recently? See (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Don't knock stinky feet. Two weeks in plastic boots with the same socks and I always had a double seat to myself on the long bus journey south from Ben Nevis. Only way to get some sleep.

Depending on your age, about 10 or 15 years....

My current walking boots (Chinese-made Karrimor -- I only found they were Chinese after I bought them) stink. My previous 2 pairs (British-made Brasher) were fine. I think it's related to the boots. Those 3 pairs correspond to 5-7 years' boots. Nor have I ever had American-made boots that stink. My next pair will be British or German (US-made boots in France are hard to find)

Cheers,

R.
