In this particular case, you season the developer till the dithionite stops fogging the film.

Every body has enough scrap negatives that can be bleached (rehalogenated), light fogged and developed several times to season the developer.

Now that actually sounds like a plan for @BamSam ! Keep one sacrificial roll, and cycle develop, rehal bleach, develop, rehal bleach, .... until you consider the seasoning done.

There's a lengthy segment in the SPSE Handbook on designing replenishers/ seasoning etc - complete with the variables to measure and the mathematical formula to use. It's not trivial, but not necessarily outwith a level of moderately applied effort (and the right kit). The reality is that that same effort could also be applied to finding less poorly designed and overwrought formulae - I get the strong feeling that the formula being played with in this thread was derivative of one of the ones that Henn had investigated and found lacking while en-route from DK-20 to D-23 to D-25 to Microdol etc.

Any idea how to solve the seasoning mystery in this case?

Wow!! In Australia, this would cost about AUD$50.00 to mix up a liter.

Nobody would buy it.

Which takes care of your marketing and distribution for it in the Antipodes...

Also it's why most of us are using D76, XTOL and ID11.

Life is too short for such complexities. Or maybe dysfunctionalities, given the 'oddities' of your chemical composition of this developer.

In that case Henn's comments still apply. I'd like to know how these people think that KRL researchers didn't completely disassemble 777 (and the like) & reverse engineer it in order to understand its mechanisms (or lack thereof).
