I'll be there - single room, prefer not to share (noone could cope with my rhinoceros like snoring). Limit on cost is about 60 per night for b&b and I can come any weekend between between 7th april to the 5th may, although could squeeze an earlier date.

Work permitting, I'll probably rent a cottage for a week.

Shall we assume a provisional date of 26th-27th April and firm it up later - perhaps around Christmas? It looks like earlier is too early and/or hits school holidays and later is packed with bank holidays (5th May & 26th May) leaving only 10th-11th and 17th-18th May available - there are still 5+ months to go however...

Bob.

Dear All,

If invited I will certainly make an attempt to join you for dinner one night
due to the fact Northumberland is the land of my fathers.....

Consider yourself invited and a pint set up on the bar, Simon!

Simon, contrary to popular opinion nobody is invited, or refused on these occasions. It’s organisation is very much a co-operative affair and a collective majority decision where and when we go.

Someone with local knowledge normally offers what help and advice they can. This time Les has volunteered for the task. I guess what I’m trying to do is to echo the sentiments expressed by others and say it will be great to meet you again.

Single for me too - any date in April - Unfotunately I can't afford £110 per night either- I spent all my money on photography (and beer!)

Rob

To widen the choice please consider this venue http://www.bamburghcastlehotel.co.uk/ Although be warned that it is a slow website. (BobF; business opportunity?) It's a few miles south of Bamburgh Castle in a seaside village called Seahouses, which could provide photographic ammunition for those early morning snappers. There is also a lot of B&B and cottages for rent close by. See what you think.

The more the merrier Simon! This is just a bunch of people with a common interest getting together. Anyone willing to share in that interest is welcome, whatever else they also happen to do in their real life...

I found that searching in Berwickshire (no longer exists as a county, but I suspect you may have trouble convincing the locals of that  ) rather than in Northumberland results in a lot of hits local to Berwick.

I am going to the Beach Hotel in Seahouses where Colin Westagtetakes his holiday workshops on 12th Nov to spend a night with them. Colin tells me that they are reasonable, about£60 per night so I'll check it out and see if I can get Malcolm the owner to offer a better rate. The hotel has enough rooms to cover our needs as well as a big room at the rear that we could use as a private function room.

I'll report the outcome when I've been.

Looks good Les, Win and I dinned there during a previous holiday and the food was good. Their website is: Dead Link Removed if anyone wants a look.

Les and Dave's choices both look interesting and can't be far apart. Useful if we overflow one hotel :D

Perhaps Les could be persuaded to have a pint in the Bamburgh Castle Hotel to check this out as well?

Both yours and Daves sound good and ideal for our budget and requirements. Seahouses is ok, but I've always found it to be a bit of a miniature Margate of the NE - a little bit tacky ... but a good base none the less.

I don't think Les drinks pints, not unless it's scotch that is:confused: But a good idea just the same.

I quite agree, parts of it are, namely the High Street, but it is, as you say a good base. Also plenty of B&B and places to rent for those wishing to stay on a while.

Would love to come along, but sods law states that next April is the only month in 2008 which is looking quite full (brothers wedding on the last weekend).

Date

Team - any firm date sorted for this event as yet?
Cheers
Aynsley

Pollmeister - please oblige!

I've just returned from visiting The Beach House Hotel in Seahouses to check out availability and cost. The only weekend available in April is Friday 4th to Sunday 6th next avaiable date is 2nd to 4th May. Cost would be £50 to £55 for dinner bed and breakfast. They are starting to build an extra 11 rooms as I write to take the capacity to 30 rooms, this will be completed in March. They have a large conference room at the rear of the Hotel that would be ideal for the evening gatherings. The hotel is located on the seafront on the edge of the village and is ideally situation for early morning shots of Bamburgh Castle, 10 minutes down the road and Dunstanburgh Castle about 20 minutes down the road.

I like the sound of this, it could be a great weekend.
