Sodium Sulfite As Toner Stop Bath

I've found a bottle of Agfa Viradon New brown toner, and the instructions call for sodium sulfite as a stop bath. Do I really need this, or can I use Hypo Clear?

Hypo clear is sulfite, for the most part.
Plain sulfite would be cheaper. Hypo clear will work if that's all you have on hand.

You don't have to stop it, but Viradon will continue to tone a bit in the wash so if you tone until it looks perfect to you stopping it will obviously be a benefit.
