Hello gang, my name is Ray and I currently live in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area of NC. I have been a dedicated film lover since around 1997 or so. Its so nice to finally find a home dedicated to traditional photography! This is like finding a glass of ice water in the middle of the desert. I cant wait to start spending lots of time here! (Right after work!) :D

Welcome, Ray. I just recently moved to Florida after spending 6 years in CH. I miss Southeastern Camera in Carrboro a lot. I haven't yet found an equivalent here in Tampa for film, paper, and chemistry, and most importantly, service. Those guys are great!

Thanks for the welcome! Charles, nice to meet you! To answer your question, my primary (only) cameras these days are Nikons. I have two, an FM3a and a beautiful F2AS. I use the FM3a for fast shooting as it offers aperture priority AE if I want it. The F2AS is my favorite for most everything else though!! They just dont make them like that anymore!

Jeff nice to meet you as well! Richmond sure has a great down town for cityscapes! I need to get back up there one of these days and do some shooting!

ignatiu5, hows the weather down there!! Sorry to hear you haven't found a place in Tampa yet. Funny you mention Southeastern Camera! I have been working in the photo industry since 1999 and have been working with Tony (the owner of SEC for several years also). I actually work at the Carrboro location as we speak! They finally had an opening here so I dont have to commute to the Raleigh location anymore! I agree the guys here are great!

Ray - welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts.

Welcome to APUG, Ray! Chapel Hill is a nice place from what I remember! You're definitely at the 'oasis' here! :D Good to have you on board!

Western Mass is beautiful although I havent been up there in 15 or so years unfortunately! Chapel Hill is a great place to be for sure. Very artist friendly place with the University right in town. Living here is kind of an oasis also!
Thanks again for the welcome!

Welcome from just northeast of Richmond, Va

A welcome from Denmark  When I discovered APUG I had the same feeling as you! There isn't too many people where I live who enjoy and use analog... so finding this place and being able to share and learn has been a huge help for me. You are definetely going to spend some time here

Hi Ray and welcome. We were just in Chapel Hill and Carrboro the other day, not too far from you (lunch at the Southern Rail).

I'm sure you'll find loads of information here...it's a great place with some great minds.

Dorothy-

mmmmm....Southern Rail....yummy! I know it well! Good to meet ya Dorothy! :D

Hoowwdy Ray, Mike C. form a rainy LA, So Cal.

Mike C. Hooowdy to you too!

I have been reading some of the forums and must admit this does seem like a nice place to be for the most part.
I was just checking out the Kodachrome thread.....
Theres some hot words being thrown around over there.....I think I'll take a break from the computer for a while and ....shoot some of the K64 roll that happens to be in my F2AS!!

Cheers to all!

Welcome, Ray, from nearby Raleigh!

If you're not already a member, you might also check out the Triangle Film special interest group on Flickr. The discussion hasn't been too active but I successfully got a bunch of film lovers to come out and do some shooting at the flea market at the state fairgrounds a couple of weekends back.

Hey Ray,

The weather here is sunny and mild, just as advertised. Being from much further north, I do miss the snow, though.

If you shoot and print B&W, you might check out the Triangle Black and White Group (Dead Link Removed), if you haven't already. Very nice people and quite accommodating of my rudimentary skill set in the very short time that I went meetings. I think I would have learned a lot from them had I stayed in the area.

Say hi to Chris and Dennis and Brady in the store.

Howdy from Orange County! Good to meet you and thanks for the link! Good to see so many triangle film shooters!
