[QUOTE="shutterfinger, post: 2275992, member: 62550 Do you still use a horse and buggy daily?[/QUOTE]

I'm surprised no one has come back on this comment. The Amish of Pennsylvania, USA and the Mennonites of Kitchener and Waterloo, Ontario, Canada certainly use horse and buggy daily, though whether they use cameras is another matter!!
regards
Tony

This comment was based on the fact that the main mode of transportation was horse or horse drawn vehicles at the time Lighter Fluid became the go to cleaner for sticky shutters.

All at or near 100% petroleum distillates. Petroleum Distillates leave a residue.
CRC QD Contact Cleaner MSDS http://docs.crcindustries.com/msds/6102.pdf is a petroleum based electrical cleaner that contains Isopropyl Alcohol and other chemicals but does net leave a residue.
Isopropyl Alcohol is a very good cleaner - degreaser.
I'm sure there are other good degreasers - cleaners that do not leave a residue or damage plastics or rubber making them safer to use on camera equipment.

The #1 Synchro Compur CN-1307-000 was benched and replaced due to deformed time, bulb, shutter lockout parts. An ear on the lockout (664) broke off while trying to reform the part. The ear is about 1 millimeter long, 1 millimeter at the lever end tapering to a point, next to impossible to repair. Steps in the bulb and time levers (693, 694) that are about 1 millimeter and 45° to the base and the arm of the lever are near impossible to reform also.

I hope Tony is having better luck.

The Mennonites here in Sonora drive modern automobiles and pickup trucks.
