Shotgun shell case

Anyone use one of these for carry along storage of 120 roll film? They look like they would work just fine, any thoughts? This one would carry 12 rolls of film.

I'm sure it'd work just fine, shottie shells are similar enough in size to 120 spools!

I just leave the rolls in the boxes they come in, and shove them in the camera bag.

That's a really good comment, I don't think they would be a good air travel item after all.

Forgive me, this is so much US to me: in Holland I am not even allow to have a shell, let alone the fire-arm that comes with it......

I think Jerry he's trying to say its a US thing, the mere fact that we even have shotgun shell cases much less shotguns. I've found in dealing with friends I have from various parts of the world that they have a hard time wrapping their minds around the idea of owning or even seeing firearms. Its just a culture thing. One friend was here over the 4th of July and we went out to see the Thunderbirds flight team. Lots of military, lots of fast jets, big show of military power, and loads of patriotism. Kind of blew him away. He wasn't used to such flag waving pride in ones country. I didn't take it badly, its just a difference in culture and how (and where) we were each raised.

On another note, I didn't perceive any backhandedness from the US comment. Some people find the Canuck passion for cheese curds and gravy on french fries quite strange; it's just a cultural difference.

I don't think it was dig at all. I have to say, when I first came to NY from the UK back in the mid seventies it just totally amazed me to the the police wandering around with these bloody great artillery pieces strapped on!! I literally had never seen a hand gun - other than in the movies until then. And the only rifles I'd seen were at the fun fairs.

Don't get one of the hard-cases for shells, or one that has an insert you can't remove. 12 Gauge shells are just a wee bit smalller than a 120 roll. The soft cases, or the ones with fabric separators are the way to go. Cabelas used to carry a nice cotton one that had a cotton webbing to separate the shells. They were perfect. The newer one I tried had a plastic insert in the bottom that I couldn't remove without tearing the pouch apart.

Anyone remember (or still use) the Zone VI / Pentax meter "leather holster" (belt pack)? I had a ranger "following" me around Yosemite from a good distance. Kept following me for a long time, until another ranger (with a gun) showed up. "Um.. err ... excuse us... um... err.... exactly what is that on your hip???" Happily we all had a laugh about it afterwards.

I stopped using my ZoneVI holster. It just felt too conspicuous, especially if other people were around. That, and the fact that my pants tend to slide down even without the weight of the meter on my belt.

I've got one, Fred said it was the best damm holster made, but that was then and that was Fred. I wonder what Fred would be inventing if he were alive today, maybe the best damm TSA holster around?

I know handguns are generally illegal in Europe, but don't people there ever do sport hunting? That's what shotguns are used for in the USA, for hunting. They aren't usually used by criminals because they're too big to carry without being seen (it is illegal to saw off the barrel to make the gun shorter for that reason), so most people here who own shotguns use them for legitimate purposes. In the part of the USA I live in, shotguns are the only guns legal for hunting, because rifle bullets go too far and my state, indiana, is very densely populated, so a rifle bullet could travel very far and accidently hurt someone. Shotgun slugs or pellets do not travel far, you have to be fairly close to the animal you're shooting at to actually hit it.

Sporting guns are used, but are heavily regulated, and generally kept away from the general public - You wouldn't see guns in a shop window, have to be a certain distance away from the road before shooting, licenses are very difficult to get, etc.

Weapons, especially handguns, get very bad press over here. But then again, it's not without reason.
