I am pleased to announce a new listing for a shooting workshop scheduled for March, 2006. We will be meeting at Franks Restaurant (http://www.schulenburgrvpark.com/sponsors/franks/franks.htm) Shulenburg, Texas. On Wed afternoon the 15th we will meet and greet and share some dinner. Shulenburg is a small German/Czech community with a varied and lengthy heritage and it is conveniently located about halfway between San Antonio and Houston right on I-10. There are several motels to choose from and very soon I will have a motel discount for our group. The workshop will begin on Thursday March 16th and will continue thru Saturday the 18th of 2006.

There are several churches in the area where we will travel to each day and we will spend the day photographing these buildings inside and out. Les McLean and I will be there to answer questions as they arise.

Things you should bring:

1.Camera gear with plenty of film Color and/or Black and White
2.A good steady tripod as these churches are not the most well lit areas and there will be a lot of reciprocity failure on this trip. This will be one of the things we will discuss during the lecture time.
3.Don’t forget the cable release and if prudent I would bring a backup
4.Clothing for 4 days-good shoes that are easy on the feet (tennis or boots) as we will be on the go most of the day.
5.Be sure and bring some prints as Les will give you a good review of your work.

The fee for this workshop is $450 per person. Fees should be sent ASAP as we need to firm this up as the time frame is quickly coming up on us. This will be a great event and a great opportunity to shoot with Les McLean and learn a lot about indoor photography.

Here is a link to the area where we will be going. http://www.texasescapes.com/Texas_architecture/TexasChurches.htm

Sign me up as well!

I am woman, hear me waver......

Oh great! Now I have to decide between the printing workshop or this one. (The massive amounts of Czech in me are screaming Schulenberg, the lousy prints from my darkroom beg for the printing help).

Maybe I should run out and buy a lottery ticket.............

I am definitely in..can't wait

glad to have you aboard Gay. It should be fun.

Valerie,

Come to this workshop, and then you'll want to go to the printing workshop, too.

That way you won't have to make a decision!

Cheers,

David

Not to nag, Lee  , but:

1) This isn't that far off, and I would think making motel reservations might be a good idea, and

2) Where would you like the money sent?

David

PS: the rest of you that haven't signed up - better get on it!

no nagging thanks for reminding me I will work on that today

Hey Lee,
How about we take agroup of APUGers to Big Bend. Show them some real landscape. July or august would be good. Temps shouldn't get above 125 or so.
Jack

reckon they could be talked into that? I would be interested. August is the best time for clouds as it rains there a little nearly every day.

Well, I'm all for it! But, there is only so much money and time - per year - for workshops for most of us. Still ...

Are we talking instructional workshop, or just a big (or small) group trip/shoot?

David

PS: I'm all for bringing more APUGGERS to Texas. There's more variety to the landscape here than most people know!

David, I was just thinking of a large or small group of like minded individuals shooting an awesome landscape. Instructional stuff for anyone who wants it.

OK I need to call and make my reservations. Is this where everyone will be staying? Or are there other places in the area?

Thanks,
Jim

I'm staying there. I looked on the internet and there are a couple of other places, but none look better or worse (on the internet). It's a small town.

When I called, I talked to a very nice lady.

FWIW

Besides, would Lee steer ya wrong?

Lee,

Since I had to drop out, I sent the VP a note. Thought he might be interested in your "shooting" workshop. He needs to brush up on some fundamentals.

It says "Shooting Workshop" Lee. Will Cheney be there?

Oh, wait, you did say bring a camera. He won't come as he wants no photos of him shooting. Errr. well, whatever.

lol.

where I come from Gun Control means hitting what you are aimed at. Cheney will not be here but I will have a 9mm just in case.
