I recently acquired some Technical Pan. I understand that to make the most of it, the best developer is Technidol. I know that PF makes TD-3, but I only have a couple rolls of the stuff and the smallest quantity of TD-3 is for 20 rolls, which seems like overkill.

I’m open to finding some Technidol on eBay, but only if I can be fairly sure that it will still work. I see that Kodak sold it in little foil packets of liquid concentrate in addition to little bottles of liquid concentrate (which, at least in the listings I’ve seen, have mostly turned brown). Google tells me that they once made a powder concentrate, too.

I’m leaning towards the liquid concentrate packets, since I imagine those will be the best sealed against oxidation. But I’m cognizant that Kodak probably hasn’t made any of this stuff in 15+ years. Can anyone give an insights into how well Technidol is likely to work after all these years?

Good Afternoon, BAP888
Three or four years ago, I used some Technidol from the 1990's (???) with fine results. Mine is the liquid type in sealed packets which must be cut open for use. I have also used liquid Technidol which was packaged in small plastic bottles and was many years old. Results from those were also fine. I still have a few packets left which I will someday use for night shots on T-Max 100 at a 1:10 ratio instead of the "normal" 1:7.

I have several glass bottles of Technidol, which worked just fine the last time I used some several years ago — see photo of bottle and box attached. That longevity is due, I understand, to the fact that the solution is made with glycol, not water, so greatly reduced oxidation. The solution in the bottles is clear. Mine was made in France by Kodak-Pathé, and I have no idea if the glass bottles might have been a Europe-only thing, with plastic bottles being used at other manufacturing sites.
