Sensation: New 127 format film!

What a surprise: There will be a new 127 film on the market.
Maco / Rollei-Film is offering the new Rollei Retro 80S now in 127 format as well (and 120)!

No Efke R100 monopoly anymore.

Time to reactivate our Baby Rolleiflex, Yashica 44, Kodak Brownie and all the other nice 4x4 / 3x4 cameras.

I've used the Retro 80S in 35mm so far. One of the best films introduced in the last years. You get excellent sharpness and resolution (on the same level with Kodak TMX), but even significantly finer grain than with TMX. An excellent material for big enlargements.

Film is alive!

YES! It is nice to have a choice in films. I will not give up on the Efke. I am sooo excited. This is wonderful. Now, we need to get Freestyle to stock it.

Hi Jeff,

may be I'm hoping too much, but if they introduce now this film, they are probably convinced there is a market. Perhaps Customers have asked them for an alternative in 127 format. And they have reacted to customer needs and wishes.
So, perhaps they will introduce additional films in this format in the future.
That would be nice!

I actually already have a brick of Efke 100 in 127 size in the fridge. But knowing that I can replace it easily makes it something I won't mind using up.

I am using efke 127 with old box tangor from 1930's, but it seems that I will be looking on ebay some baby rollei. Even better - I have some struggle with square format, maybe this will be good think for me - double win

I think people are just glad to have another option. I haven't seen anything particularly bad said about the Efke film per se.

My baby Rollei is waiting for the new film now. There is a lab around here and they told me they will develop 127 if I'd manage it to buy and shoot 127.

Yeah! Hopefully it will be easier to put on the developing reels. Baby Brownies are great at pool parties (the bakelite ones, that is).

I don't know where you guys have your 127 processed when you don't do it yourself, but Dwayne's Photo does a great job! I have sent into them through WalMart's send out service and I have mailed it to them directly. They print it opically right onto Ilford papera. There is no scanning inbetween.

That's exactly what I was just thinking....if anyone wants one, they better get one quick. I wonder if anyone will come out with a new 127 camera? Maybe Lomo or something. I know they have a couple of 35mm TLRs, a 127 may be fun.....127 is just a fun format.

-) Efke lists in type 127 a panchromatic as well as an infrared film (don't know about availibility)
