This is what I think! If I were the person in the o.p. I would have felt and had the same knee-jerk reaction. That is " surprised" and "where did that come from" "what kind of answer is that?#%*%???" when I heard or read the response to the ad. We all use film here, true. we are slightly, and in some way removed from societies norms, by doing so. . . . . When we share THAT CONTRAST with others in our "norm" "our circle of fun" a.k.a our group, WE ALL see the disconnect. I do not see that as being mean to either person. I see that as a funny and humorous situation, because of the "surprise" element to it. I think if anything, the o.p. is exposing him/herself as some one NOT with the "times", (understanding social norms, yes- image capturing is one of those, ) and the person who took offense "should lighten' up, Francis" attributed to Stripes, the movie, Sergeant Hulka, to be exact!
