Remember that about 2 years ago, Michael Kadillak got Kodak to cut special pre orders of sheet films!

I can envisage in thousands of years archaeologists excavating ancient ruins and finding fragments of documents in a dead language called English that they eventually decipher and assume to be litany s from a long forgotten religion and assuming that the name of the religion,, since it's the most repeated word in the text , is Kodachrome

Nah, there won't be any technology current at the time which will be able to read the media, so they'll end up melting it and using it as a base for a lamp.

And not just him. Freestyle did a special order of 11x14" Tri-X not long ago, and presumably others who don't organize group offers on the internet have done special orders.

As I recall, Audrey Jonckheer retired last year, right about the time Kodachrome was discontinued.

Just for the record: Mary Jane Hellyar was the person I was thinking of.

If they are running the K-12 or K-14 processes, I'll eat my hat. And no Carmen Miranda fruit hat, either. I'm talking my grimy, sweat stained workin' under the house hat.

There's no way they are doing color, I seriously doubt it. Ron, I bet most labs would do Kodachrome in B&W if you asked them. But why?

It is possible to process Kodachrome without the specialized machine, just ask PE. It'd be worth keeping all your unprocessed Kodachrome for the day when someone decides to figure it out.

Yes, that is very misleading. One could read it as processing films intended as colour slides to whatsoever, or as processing them to colour slides.

I, without knowing the Kodachrome situation, would have read it the latter way.

That's how I read it and they even coutch it further to say that old slides with 'difficult' color may need to be printed as B&W:

Since the films are old, images may be deteriorated and skill is applied in processing in order to get the best results possible. I some cases where the colour layer of the film is not good we print it in Black & White.

I had to press them in email before they would tell me that the 'slides' would be B&W so in fact they don't even try to turn them into color via the K14 process and there is no chance at all of getting color prints out of them. For 40 quid I'd be very disappointed by B&W negatives from my Kodachrome.
