Yes.. it would be nice to compare those photos to current ones showing the long grey beards grown on the men (and also potentially some of the women) waiting for the camera to make its way home...:errm::cry:

I think we should rename this forum Member Organized Disfunctions.

Jeez, I need a drink. Preferably something with strychnine in it.

Agreed... Somebody has to know somebody in the area that we can leverage!?!?

Come on Chris, it's not hard... just put the camera in a box and MAIL!

Okay, who's up for full scale letter writing or phoning campaign? PM me to get our overly busy (at least I'm hoping that's the case) friend's address/phone details. It's time to go all in to recover the camera... Who's with me?? :ninja:

Update: I have sent cdholden MANY emails to both his contacts, sent letters to his PO box, and made many unsuccessful phone calls to the number he provided. Is this it? Are we finished? Only time will tell. If anyone else wants his info, here's everything but his phone number, which is a company cell phone with no voice mail set up. Go figure.

cdholden@gmail.com (primary email)
christopher.holden@siemens.com (alternate email)
Phone (leave message)

I have sent an email to a company that uses/used the same PO Box (according to internet). I asked if they know Christopher Holden and could ask for the camera. I'll let you know if they respond.

The company didn't know him and hadn't used that P.O.box for some decades.

I don't want to be the one to say it, but at what point do we consider the camera to be MIA and start another round? Is worth continuing the way we do this project? This isn't the first time we've lost a camera - I'm wondering if there are other ways to do this to make it more successful.

I opened a thread for round 11, but it seems to have fallen silent :-(
No it hasn't, but I'm testing some cameras (see thread) and haven't found a decent one yet without batteries that gave good negatives (still testing others though).

Here is the link to the sign-up thread for the 11nd round:

I've done everything I know to do, guess this was a failure. I really don't care about losing the camera so much as the images, and the journal. I was so looking forward to reading the commentary. Disappointed, yes. Angry, not really. Kinda feels like not getting the Christmas present hoped for, only worse. My apologies to everyone who participated, don't let this stop you from trying another round.

I wouldn't be angry if it wasn't the second time a camera disappeared with him.
I don't think our earlier camera disappeared with him - wasn't it someone else?

No, it was him. "Lost" in shipping - at least that was the story. Now I question that.

Unfortunately, I was the one who shipped to him both times. At least this time we know for a fact that he got the camera.

I think before another round is started someone should go back through the previous threads and identify individuals who tend to hang on to the camera for far longer than is reasonable and necessary. Once may well be an aberration, and shouldn't be held against them. More than once begins to look like a pattern.

Stuff happens in life, illness, injury, personal tragedy and so forth that can derail us for a time; people need to be aware when they're not going to be able to complete their shots and just move the camera along. We can always send it back to them when they're ready for it. These rounds are a lot of fun until stuff like this happens.

Participation in the thread should be mandatory. Tracking numbers and signature confirmation should be mandatory. Full contact information should be mandatory, including two phone numbers, if possible. I don't know what else we can do.

It's all about honesty, and trust. Obviously, there was one among us who was less than honest, and can no longer be trusted. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is disappointed we won't be able to marvel at the images shared by all. My biggest disappointment is losing the journal that accompanied the camera. I was so looking forward to reading musings of the folks I consider friends. A cherished memory lost to a thief.

Rick,
You pretty much said it all. Thank all of you who worked to try to recover the camera. It's a shame somebody can be so selfish...
