The Centro Storico (historic center) is full of beautiful architecture, plazas, fountains, monuments and people. Very touristic though so have in mind that your photos will be full of tourists.
Take a short bus ride to Villa d'este. The villa is famous for all its fountains. Must go there, even if you missed Villa Borghese. As you only have 3 days, you must use your time most sensibly.

Get well wrapped up with waterproofs and breathables a it can get quite cool at that time. A little bit cooler than Ireland perhaps!!!
Oh! Bring plenty, plenty and plenty of film. You will need them. They are expensive in Rome. And 120 is probably non-existent there (unless you are a local and know where specially to look for them). Same applies for spare batteries.
It may also help if you can bring an empty stomach. Food is so good.
You can find film in Rome, of many kinds actually. There is a store for professionals around the area of St.Peter (but further northwest) but unfortunately I can't remember the name of it...
