Rollei 6000/SLX Lens Disassembly

Looks like there is no longer any factory service available for Rollei lenses (someone correct me if I am wrong).
I did not find much at all with an internet search for Rollei 6000/SLX lens repair information so I am posting this as a start. I think APUG has more popularity than the KYPhoto forum but maybe I'll post this there also http://www.kyphoto.com/cgi-bin/forum/discus.cgi .

I'll show how to open up an 80mm 2.8 Planar from the front and the rear.

From the rear:
Mark the bayonet for re-assembly (Sarpie marker comes off with isopropyl alcohol when finished).


Remove the silver screws around the perimeter of the bayonet ring (don't remove any of the black screws visible).

Use correct screw driver, don't strip the heads.

The ring comes off with wires attached at the back:

When you lift up the back you can see an additional set of black cross-head screws. Be careful working around these wires as the sharp edge of the flange can injure the insulation when separating the barrel.

After removing the screws the barrel separates. The PQ 80mm lens has one-less screw holding the assembly together.

There are three small cross-head screw holding a plastic baffle ring on the back of the rear group of elements. Remove these screws and the ring slips off.

With the plastic ring removed, you may-or-may-not be able to unscrew the rear element. In this case it came off without a lens wrench.

This lens had an oily foggy lens surface on the rear-most group of the front elements. Easy to get to and clean in this case. The rest of the lens surfaces were OK in this case.

Disassembly from the FRONT:
The ring that says "Made in Germany by Rollei" will unscrew. I got this on off without a lens wrench using the rubber glove, therefore no marks.

The screw-in ring holds the bayonet assembly in place. When removing the bayonet assembly there will be 4 small springs exposed. These springs hold tension on the bayonet locking balls around the perimeter of the front bayonet ring.

Five silver cross-head screws can be removed to remove the next flange. These screws have locking paint on them. When re-assembling too much torque on these screws made the aperture ring stiff, and I locked them with a dab of paint on re-assembly.

With that ring off, the aperture ring is loose but still attached by these two screws. Remove those two screws and be sure to catch the little ball for the aperture detents when lifting the aperture ring off.

Next step would be to unscrew the rear cell group. In my case I only removed the rear lens with its own locking ring and cleaned that. I did not need to go any farther.

All products once manufactured by Rollei are still serviced by the successor of the camera plant in Germany, DHW.

Furthermore there are still independant service people around once authorized by Rollei.

Yes, that's because I just started it this Summer. Thank you for finding and sharing the link. My site went live last week, and I'm still very busy adding products and as much information as I can. DHW-Fototechnik will be formally announcing me as a dealer soon. I've just taken delivery of my first order for inventory - mostly Hy6 Mod2's and AFD lenses, but I can have almost anything here within two weeks.

Rollei Hensel in NJ (973) 244-9662 still repairs 6000 series stuff, though I have to admit my favorite technician Onick V has retired. Krikor at Krimar 201-796-0554 can do a lot as well. I've just added a tab on service to my site that has the DHW service address and contact as well of the others. Harry Fleenor at Oceanside for TLR stuff.

At the moment, I'm not able to offer repair service, however I plan to be trained at the factory for this next year.

Thanks EricWHiss for chiming in and it is good to see some USA support for this nice equipment. I hope readers will appreciate that a simple 'lens cleaning' is quite involved in these lenses and most repairs would be best left to the pros.
