Hi,

I am new to LF and ths is my first post on apug.
I recently purchased Rittreck View camera with 5x7 and 4x5 backs, 180 fujinon a and 250 fujunon w lens. I am totally happy with it and already prepared a development and print process in my head.
As i only have an enlarger to print negatives of maximum 6x7 cm, I plan to use 5x7 for b/w, develop in 8x10 tray and print contacts. 4x5 for slide, develop in mod54 adapter in a tank, scan on my epson v700 and print on durst theta on fuji paper in a lab.
However, I always dreamed about 6x17cm panoramic slides on Velvia and found a dayi 6x17 back for 5x7 on e-bay. Can you tell if this back would somehow fit a Rittreck view? attached are the sample pics of both.
I suppose the camera's back side is about 7x7 inches (or slightly more), so the dayi back has to go as it was a fidelity film holder. But I suppose the room is not enough for the back to fit into the 5x7 back with a ground glass of rittreck. Is there someone familiar with rittreck view? maybe there are other possibilities to attach 6x17 back.
Or should i forget about 6x17cm on a rittreck?

Thanks in advance
Igor

there were custom made wooden frame backs for the rittrecks a while ago on the big auction site. they came up quite regularly. they have enough room for these holders. I don't have the original 5x7 back, so I can't tell you for this one. the rittrecks are nice cameras indeed. btw: a 6x12 holder in a 4x5 back is very much fun already, cheaper, easier to handle and easier to scan. good luck.

It depends if your backs are the Universal Graflok style (removable ground glass screen) or the original Rittreck spring backs. The Rittreck spring backs do not allow attaching of roll film holders unless they are the slide-in type similar to a double dark film holder. I've seen Dayi 6x17 backs that fit 4x5 size Graflok and also 5x7 size Graflok. These must have a Universal Graflok back. I use a 6x12 Horseman roll film holder with the 4x5 Universal Graflok back on the Rittreck View.

Thanks for the answers! Now it is clear I can only use a rollfim back on a Graflok style back. Unfortunately, I have original, non-Graflock backs, so will have to search for alternatives.

The Shen Hao 5x7's have the back that can fit this holder. You could try finding a Shenhao 5x7 back and adapting it, but i fear that the price of a single back when they do pop up will be quite high.
