What's your 5 month review of the Reveni Labs Lumo Light Meter? Just curious. Also, do any of you work on film sets and use it there, too?

I also posted this question on Reddit because I am looking for answers from people that have used it a lot. So far I've only seen 'first impressions.'

My question on Reddit:
I came across this meter while surfing the web yesterday. So far I've only seen 'first impressions.'

I wonder how you folks are liking it because I want something that hits the portability/functionality sweet spot. I prefer not to pull out my phone if I can avoid it. My current incident meter works fine. It's just bigger than I'd like, doesn't go past 800 ISO setting, and lacks a few cine shutter speeds. I have a spot meter I'm alright with for special occasions.

P.s. I would love to see a picture of your Lumo next to the Sekonic L308 for a size comparison if any of you have both. I have neither.

This thread was created to share experiences with this very promising light meter:https://www.reveni-labs.com/reveni-labs-lumo

I'll start: I hardly have a shortage of light meters (eight (8) as of last count), but I was so impressed by the promised specs that I wanted one.
I ordered on Wednesday after firing off a couple of questions about DHL delivery, which were very promptly answered by Matt. Now, I'm awaiting delivery!

My regular meter is Metered Light's Pocket Spot or the Sekonic L758 for Large Format, and a little Gossen DigiFlash for anything else, so I was keen to get the Lumo for it's small size, rechargeability, colour temp measuring and general innovation. It does all those things, but I can't say I've warmed to the menu system yet, and have found it confusing in the field - the simplicity/accuracy of the Pocket Spot makes it my go to, and the wireless triggering of the Sekonic makes it the perfect studio beast. The Gossen is just so easy to read (especially now I'm in my 50's and my close vision has gone South, boo). I will keep trying though, as the Lumo is really nicely made and packed with features...

I have a few good light meters, but when I read up on the LUMO FROM Reveni Labs in Canada, I just couldn't resist. I read through the online manual and knew'I've gotta have it. My expectations were high, and I lived through the ten-day delivery to Germany like a kid counting down the days to Christmas. I'm happy to report that my high expectations were met and exceeded. light meter in hand, Iwent trhrough the entire manual. I had trouble understanding a few bits, but those were quickly cleared up by Matt from Reveni via email. My suggestion is: get one, the little thing is a masterpiece in technology and design. You won't be sorry, and your old light meters will likely be retired. If I had had this earlier, I probably bought no other except for a dedicated 1º spotmeter for the Zone System. For the studio and all exterior incident metering, the Lumo is an absolute gem. Note: I have no affiliation with Reveni Labs other than being a very happy customer.

The specification looks very impressive.
I will keep to the meters that I already own though as it's far too tempting to buy this meter.

You find the exact dimensions in the online manual. to give you an idea, it's a bar 25 mm square and 85 mm long (in other words, tiny). I've had it for a couple of weeks now and love it. It's a masterpiece of design, engineering, and manufacturing. fits into your shirt pocket, measures incident with flash and flash analysis; a pleasure and fun to use. and accurate too. the built-in usb rechargable battry makes it really convenient, and it has not failed me yet.

I wonder what's the C factor for the Lumo. I know the K factor is 12.5. I couldn't find the angle of acceptance of the reflected light meter. Also Reveni doesn't specify accuracy.

send an email question to Matt at Reveni. I'm sure he will answer as soon as possible.

I've merged your post into the present thread as @Certain Exposures has also asked the same question.

Thanks, @koraks

Also, thank you for your comments @RalphLambrecht and @munz6869 .

Are you satisfied with its low light performance? I have been spending more time photographing at night in settings lit with ambient streetlights, shop windows, etc.

Yes, the only meter I know that is even more sensitive to low light is the Sekonic Speedmaster L-858D (0.5 lux vs. 5 lux of the Lumo), both being very dim conditions.

Oh, this is my next light meter for sure, tired of the slightly clumsy Sekonic L-208.

I'm happy with mine. I've used it for metering for landscape when shooting E6 through my Pentax 67 as well as metering for natural light and flash on my LF shots.

It's pretty accurate, at least it agrees well with the meter on my T90 for natural light, flash is decent too although I managed to overexpose when I metered flash near a part of my subject that was a lot darker than the average.

Matt at Reveni labs emailed about a firmware update on Jan 22, 2026.

There is a new firmware available for the LUMO. You can find it here along with the installation instructions. There’s a list of changes below.

Change Notes:
  • Improved low brightness flash detection
  • Flash ratio stops fixed, now shows proper ratios
  • Improved results layout when multiple options are activated
  • Added “Incident Before Flash” option, which will sample and display an incident ambient reading while readying the meter for flash. Accessed by scrolling past the bottom of the flash menu, to the second page where “IB4F” is shown.
  • Priority mode is now shown as “SHUT.” and “APER.” in the menu to improve clarity and remove redundant text. Fast-switch between priorities by double-clicking the down button in INCI or REFL modes.

He also replied to my friend who has a Lumo and suggested some functions, including switching between incident and reflected without going into menus. That is not documented, but can now be done with a triple press of the down button. Updating the firmware is easy. My friend did it on a Mac and I did it on linux without issue.

I'm afraid the Lumo is not ideal for low-light photography. The Gossen LunaStar F2 is better suited, and the Sekonic Speedmaster 858D is ideal for low light. The Lumo is a perfect light meter for studio and outdoor photography (incident and flash), but not an ultra-sensitive lux meter for the lab.

I took my Lumo out yesterday to a rally in the city, paired with a Beaulieu R16 (manual version), and using it in reflective mode for maximum simplicity, I actually really enjoyed it... so perhaps I'm getting more used to it with repeat use, and in the right situations...
