Hi,
I got a cheap CPE2Plus with a Lyft and of course it did not power up.
EBay seller said everything works but does not accept returns.
Lyft seams to be in a good shape
Is there a repair manual for the CPE2Plus?

There's a thermal over temp breaker switch that trips out. The switch on the left side of the unit, is reset with a pen or pencil etc (hole is on the side). This can be accidentally tripped when cleaning with hot tap water, or just momentarily turning on the unit without water.

Look at Jobo USA for manuals etc. Catlabs is the service center in USA

If the item was listed as working but doesn't, contact the seller and try to work out something with him. If he won't cooperate file a claim with EBay, they will make the seller take it back and refund you.

So does the motor run if power is on and motor is switched to on? The little light is illuminated when heater is on.

No light no noise.
Maybe I have to fill it with water for it to start?

First fill with room temperature water, next reset the thermal switch on the left side of the motor housing, then plug it in, next turn power on advance the thermostat until light comes on, then turn on motor.

The leak is not a big deal. A little epoxy and/or duct tape. Any connection with corrosion needs to be cleaned up with a fine brass wire brush. Could be a stuck relay maybe tap gently with the handle of a screwdriver.

I'm hoping you have the drive cog? I would get the leak patched on the inside with a bit of tape, fill up the trough and confirm it heats. If that works you are in business.

1500 series film tanks will work fine even if you can't get it to reverse, not print drums you will have streaks.

I would confirm heat. Then start cleaning terminals. UNPLUGGED. When you are testing don't be standing in water and become a lighting rod. It's amazing how much current the human body will carry if well grounded 😩

Honestly if can I rather save it.

Get after it. These things are all analog electronics, the "Plus" eliminated the mechanical interlink for reversing the motor. Most parts are available from Omer at Catlabs. These machines are very reliable when cared for. This one looks like it was abandoned in a humid spot.

Tap where?
And you thing 1500 films will work just the same if it rotates in one direction?

Got partial refund . The lift is ok
It heats up and comes with extra heating element.
I am missing a gear. But overall happy with the purchase.
Just have to find a way to clean it good.

Good, you are halfway there. Do you have any tanks? The little rollers etc. Take a couple pictures of what you have.

And regarding developing film. I have a Jobo Duolab, using the 1520 tank it works great, only spins in one direction, color or black and white, no problem.

I would start by cleaning corrosion, very gently on the wire terminals. Try wiggling the wire connections, could just be corrosion. Absolutely be careful with electricity!

Be careful, could be that the heating element melted the bottom of the trough. Factory has little ceramic spacers, just be careful

The ceramic spacers are there. Reothan does not touch plastic.

Will do. I have Jobo tanks but not cog. Also i think one gear is missing on the CPE-2plus:
Might try the magnet first.

Definitely need the drive cog. Not sure why it has a lift but no cog? Did you get a round magnet? Magnet is how tank is driven without a lift

I can find the magnet on the tank but can not find the magnet that goes on the CPE-3Plus

You need a magnet on the base of the 1500 tanks and another magnet on the end of the motor shaft.

Be careful which motor magnet you get, Jobo changed the design and it looks like you have the tapered motor shaft.

You should not have the heater on without water in the bath, otherwise the element can overheat and break.

You don't need magnets if you want to use the lift. You need cogs on the tank lid and on the drive motor.

I cleaned every thing. Heater works and temp censor works.
Motor spins one direction.
Lift works well just needs a gear between the CPE-3 and the lift.
Where can I find that gear? See picture bellow?
