I agree, you see a lot more shadow detail in the second one. Of course all this is in the eye of the beholder, I like the first one because it gives a darker and more dirtier look (which suits the location) but in some cases it might be interesting to have more detail in the shadows. Either way, I (and other people) can use this test as a starting point and now I know what effect it gives if one adjust the exposure. Might come in handy if the situation demands it.

The benefit of the 2nd negative is that you can take advantage of the shadow detail or make it look like the first by printing it a bit harder. You can't do that with the first.

According to the published data sheet, 135 and 120 films have a different spectral sensitivity that sheet films: does it have to be taken into account?
