If the batteries sit in a plastic holder, the sure, you can make it work.

Well, aside from CR123A being too fat to fit two side by side in the flashlight, and too long to fit two end to end. A single 4 V lithium could be adapted, and the light might work on a 3V (until the voltage drops off a little), but I don't know.
