RB why

Why does the rb on my RB67 rotate clockwise to the vertical position instead of counterclockwise? If it rotated counterclockwise I could actually get the dark slide in-out when in vertical mode. But as it stands, the slide hits my tripod head tilt lever.

Simple workaround (although annoying)- pull the slide before you rotate.

Probably because using finders other than chimney or waist level would prevent pulling the dark slide.

That's my solution, but yes, it is irritating.

Square is not a problem it is the perfect format. That is what Hasselblad said. Rollei and Mamiya TLRs used it too. You are just stretching it.

I knew there had to be a good reason. It was just too weird for a system so otherwise well designed.

This is true.

I went to look at a Bronica 6x6 last weekend but the guy didn't hear me knocking so I never got to see it. But I won't give up my 6x7 anyway

Might try turning your tripod mount plate on the camera 90...

The vast majority of visual artists would disagree with you. For us, square is a pretty square format. I would have to crop everything.

I never gave square formats any thought in 50 years. But when this thread popped up first a few weeks ago

I flipped through some of those mags and...I liked them. If I just look at the images and don't think about what an alien shape they are, they work. I found myself looking at square cameras, but fortunately I can't afford any so I'm safe from becoming a square. For now. I do have a 6x6 negative carrier though so I might not be completely safe.

Yep, I have no prism so that idea escaped me but am starting to think about getting one. I'm learning its really hard to see the viewfinder when you're pointing down into the water without getting in the water.

If I rotate it 90 degrees it'll just hit the other lever, lol.

OK, I have another "RB why". I don't have a Pro-S body or C lenses so maybe its different on those, but I find it weird and annoying that I have to end a time exposure by rotating the aperture ring or by moving the cocking lever. They better have a REAL good reason for that. Even if I cover the lens first I run the risk of camera movement, and it just seems so unnecessary. But I'm still an RB newby. Even though I've had it a few years I've only recently become enamored of it and started using it more.

I've got no money so GAS will by and large escape my grasp. I was kind of glad when the guy with the S2A didn't answer the door...saved me a couple hundred more bucks for film for my RB.

Sirius, that is wishful thinking on your part. Look at the size of 'em. They are clearly 5x7.
