Print file sleeves tearing

I’ve been using print file sleeves for my negatives. they seems to tear easily. I file negatives together with my contact sheets in a folder. When flipping through them I had a few of tear on the side where the holes are.
The material is rather soft I noticed. Are there any better alternatives that have reinforced holes?

when i used them i ended up keeping them in archival boxes not binders.... long ago though switched to glassine because the slots also were weak.
wil be back to print file i guess since my supply is finite -10 years !!

Use "D" ring binders rather than "O" ring binders. Also, be gentle when you turn the pages.

I use Kenro glassine negative sleeves and never had a problem. I'm careful when flipping the pages in the ring binder, but I doubt you can easily tear them.

Have you tried loose leaf reinforcements?

I've been using Print File for years, never had a problem. Maybe a bad batch?

There are all kiinds of print files from various materials.
With paper sleeves one can add O-ring adhesive stickers to strengthen the holes if the rebate is not strong enough.
Using a multiple.-arch binder may be another outcome. Also using only binders with smooth transition between the two parts of the arches when closed.

I've used PrintFile sleeves for years and I did notice that my most recent batch seemed a little flimsier than the old ones and the spacing of the sleeves was less consistent than in the past (some sleeves were tighter than others). I just chalked it up to being a bad batch as I've had such good luck with them in the past. I've never had them tear, though....

I agree! Some sleeves are wider and some are tighter with Print file 35mm (5neg X 7strips) negative pages I bought. Quite annoying!

Yes, these are the ones I’m having trouble with as well and I haven’t experienced this before.

I put an adhesive reinforcer on mine to minimize this very problem. Like these;

You should be able to find them at any stationary store as well as online.
