This thread has the second highest number of views in the Australia sub-forum as well as the highest number of replies. I wonder what we can infer from that?

That we're a bunch of nerds who take a long time to get themselves organised, and then can't wait patiently and silently until our prints arrive? ...just wagering a guess...

Tim thanks so much for arranging this the exchange is Awesome. I have had a really busy day so haven't had a chance to write about the prints. but will either later tonight or tomorrow. I was amazed by the high quality that people around the country have been producing and have been inspired to try some of the things I have seen today.

I picked up my prints from the post office this afternoon and have had a brief look through them. I'm still deciding what criteria to use to make comments...

Do I comment on the technical quality of the prints? Do I comment on the photos themselves (do I like the subect matter - or not)? I'm undecided what to say..or even if I really want to comment on individual prints?

What I DO want to say is that I am impressed by the variety - of subject matter, of techniques used (conventional photographic and photo-mechanical in my group), and of the equipment used. It was also great to see both fiber based and RC prints..these prints showed you can acheive excellent prints regardless of what type of paper you use...

I want to congratulate everyone who contributed to my group - if the other group has the same quality as mine then I think everyone will be happy with the prints they received, and will be looking forward to Print Exchange II

My bundle arrived safely today as well. Thanks Tim!

I've just spent 30 minutes looking at them and reading the notes provided by you all. There are some amazing images in there including techniques/processes I had never even heard of before.

I'll have a good long look later tonight and gather my thoughts and questions for feedback. Do we need to agree on how we'll do that if we want to or just leave it to each to decide if/how?

1. PM only (private but no opportunity for others to learn)
2. In this thread (not private but easy for us in Oz to see and learn from)
3. Post our own image in the gallery and then have comments made against the image while having the benfit of the real print in-hand? (Public and long-lasting image with Q&A preserved for all to see. - This last one might be my suggestion.)
4. others?

I really wish we all lived the same city so we could discucss these prints face to face and also see the actual process in use in person.

A big THANKS to all who participated! And yes, already looking forward to OPEX II (Oz Print EXchange

I'm just going to post the comments in this thread, I don't think anyone will have any issue with that.

OPEX II, I like it!

Any Melbourne people interested in meeting up for a coffee in the city somewhere for a catchup?

I will in time, post comments on the wonderful prints I have received.

I will also take the box of prints down to Kilcunda next month, that way others who for whatever reason were unable to be a part of this, will at least see one half of what was presented.

Mick.

Hi all I got mine last night. It was definitiely worth the wait. It made me think I really have to lift my game.

I will review over the course of tonight and tomorrow and give a bit more feed back and post questions Saturday.

Thanks for the co-ordination Tim.

Got my package last night also.

I gotta say, I went into this with fairly low expectations: perhaps hoping for 1 or 2 nice prints among the group. I'm happy to be able to say that there's a lot more than 1 or 2 good 'uns - and that even those that haven't immediately grabbed my attention are of a uniformly high standard. And even better, absolutely none of it is crap!

Rather than post comments about individual pictures at this stage, I'd like to simply say thanks to all the other participants in Group 1. Putting one's work "out there" amongst a potentially critical group of one's peers is not without risk, so thanks for being prepared to share with me a little of who you are and what you see.

One query: as part of Group 1 I received a fantastic image of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. But there was no info sheet. Not sure whether this was by accident or intentional. If the former, I'd be happy to receive the a copy of the info page by email for the album.

Thanks again to Tim for organising.

Cheers

I fully agree with Carey's comments. There is not a single poor image in our whole group.

Carey, my package was also missing an info sheet for that nice image of Sydney Harbour Bridge (complete with fellow photographers in the foreground), so I'm guessing that the participant did not include one.

And thanks again to Tim from me also.

And here I am thinking that Ive lost the data sheet....

Yes a great selection of prints, and have have set a benchmark for me to work towards.

Note to Tom, your father looks remarkably like Glen Robbins and it must wonderful to have such a great image of him. Your father, not Glen Robbins that is, unless it is really Glen Robbins...

Thanks all for putting in, and look forward to the next one.

I'm pretty sure he isn't Glenn Robbins, though he could be living a double life!

Uh Oh, he's probably a Russian spy too...

Some unlucky people got the too-dark version. I just ran out of time. I've got around 40 rejected prints sitting at home. Oh well.
