I'm trying to identify a photograph, one I have seen in another photograph... here we go:

- The place and date is Montréal, 19 March 1961. I've got a couple of people looking at photographs, photobooks, and magazines.
- Someone is looking at a soft-cover publication, in a section that seems to be only illustrated by photos (perhaps Aperture or another US photo publication). The size is small, so it can't be LIFE or comparable magazines.
- On the left-hand side page, there's a white chicken running on a black background.
- On the right-hand side page, it's a portrait of two people. I've extracted and perspective-corrected the image in Photoshop. It looks like two men, one (perhaps a soldier in uniform) leaning on the should of another (a doctor?).

Is the picture of the two men iconic enough that someone might recognize it?

Obviously the fidelity is too low for reverse-searching Google Images.

Thanks in advance for any clues.

On the left-hand side page, there's a white chicken running on a black background.

Or a pigeon in flight against a black background.

JFK and Nehru.

Interesting. Nehru apparently released 66 pigeons on his 66th birthday in 1954.
Maybe not such a wild guess, although that would make the photo date to 1962, wouldn't it?

Wild-ass guess: JFK and Nehru.

Gotta admin that's a clever one! But the "JFK" character here has some kind of lab overcoat, so I'm thinking something about military hospitals maybe?

lacking any response or clues, i'd try the reverse search - what's the worst? you're already there!!!

Yes, I tried it, and Google gets nothing.

I thought it was Jackie Gleason in a sailor's cap...

Keep 'em coming, free-associating might be the only way to generate enough clues to locate the image!

Pieter12: I'm pretty sure it's Nehru, too, but with Mao, not JFK.

Nehru meeting Mao. Sixth photo down. Maybe not this exact photo, but maybe the same event.

Maybe not this exact photo

Guaranteed not that exact photo. Just look at the background.
Also, the hairline on the supposed 'Mao' doesn't really match; Mao had a hairline that receded to his ears or beyond; the man in OP's photo has at least some hair above the brow. It's not Mao.

I redid the perspective deformation, and went lighter on the ajustements. One thing I notice now is that there seems to be a skin colour difference between the two men.

I'm going for some kind of military personnel for the right-hand-side man. On his head, it looks like a garrison cap (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Side_cap#United_States), he has pockets on his shirt, and some insignia on his arm. Looks like he also has a thin mustache.

A military hospital?

And here's the bird photo, looks like a pigeon, so this one could really be anything.

I'm continuing the analysis of photobooks being read by the same gang of people, and just realized I had this image. It looks familiar, maybe HCB in Moscow or something similar?
