Note to self: don't try to print on the back of photo paper! Also, next time take care when using 10-year old label stock to cover the smudged addresses (I'm hoping the labels don't actually peel away)! OTOH a fine sharpie writes well on the back of photo paper. On the third hand, apologies in advance that the Sharpie somehow managed to make my appalling handwriting even worse (nuffink to do wiv me, guv). :-(

Anyway, finally, got all my postcards printed, addressed, and written. I hope to get to the Post Office tomorrow, then they'll be on their way.

My cards are drying on a table, my stickers are printed, and I think I'll get them in the mail tomorrow. I usually use several negatives (sometimes, every card is actually different) - I've only made all my cards the same once before. But this time, every card is from the same negative.

Cards away! The Royal Mail postage has gone up over 10% since I last sent a card internationally, which was quite a surprise!

Mine have gone, also. I imagine the first one will be delivered by the end of the week (it doesn't have to go far).

Mine are all printed, just gotta label them and send them out. Took a different approach this time as my bathroom (darkroom) is being remodeled. They turned out nicely, hope you like them.

Received the first card of PCX 65, "Leaves" by AnselMortensen. A nice square Hasselblad shot of a group of leaves, very nicely isolated from the background. Good exposure and composition. And almost as interesting as the photo is the collection of stamps on the front: an Apollo 8, a 3 cent American Turners, a 6 cent Leif Erickson, and a 6 cent Air Mail stamp, plus a few others. You must have dug deep in the drawer to find these!

Thanks Doug!

I received jvo's NY Harbor photo today.

Wow, a very evocative, timeless image!
I appreciate its Photo-Secessionist qualities.
Nice hybrid use of modern tech to interpret a problem negative.
Bravo!

Today I got @Ajven 's "Tree Shadow", well caught and well printed, and I like the paper - I need to go back to FB papers, I think I've been missing out.

I've been debating with myself about the composition, whether or not the top of the warehouse is too distracting and should have been left out - but that might have led to a very abstract image. With this composition we get to realize that it's a real building, and that also adds to the image.

Thank you for sharing!

Wow, this is probably my new record of abroad postcard delivery. Six days from Brno to a city in Belgium. I had a spare card and sent it to my friend living in Prague the same day. He received the postcard today as well. Sometimes distance doesn't matter.

Thank you for your comment. I had the same thoughts as you about the composition. I tried to make it also more contrasty and it looked almost like graphics. Finally I decided for more realistic variant of photo.

I made this postcards on two different papers - Fomabrom Variant 111 and 112, I'm not sure what kind of paper is your print.

I also received jvo's New York harbor scene. Very soft, very dramatic, and very effective shot. Amazing what can be done with old images. Thanks James!

Today I received @Don_ih "Virginia Creeper" postcard - the first one I received in this round: you are right, the plant is doing it's job very well - only the small piece of the fence is visible in the left bottom corner. Probably this time the fence is covered completely  Thank you for the nice postcard!

Came back today from a couple of days away to find one from Doug (AnselM), with a circular USA Forever 2020 stamp, the like of which I've not seen before. Beautiful, simple square! I'm very interested in its two ply construction, too. I'd thought of trying something like that to make my cards more robust (and maybe print more effectively on the reverse!), but was worried it might come apart. This looks great.

I also got Don's Virginia Creeper card, which survived the transatlantic mail very well (one slight nick, sadly). Don said he made his prints on a 5x7 enlarger, but apparently straight onto a Postcard base, again something I've not seen before. I've looked everywhere for photo-postcard-stock, without success; maybe my G**gle-fu has deserted me!

Thanks both for the nice, interesting cards.

My first card arrived yesterday - Leaves from @AnselMortensen . The print has an interesting look. Can you explain the "offset printing" part?

straight onto a Postcard base

Ilford no longer makes postcard paper, although they do still sell boxes of 4x6 paper. So my postcard paper is dwindling.

I also got, yesterday, @AnselMortensen 's, "Leaves", with some very charismatic postal scuffing - it did cross the ocean to get here...

My postcards are delayed, but I think I've chosen the negative I'm going to print. At least it's a first step...

If you get Ilford paper, make sure it's the "Portfolio" paper. That paper is as stiff as the post card paper used to be. I made the mistake of getting the other kind of 4x6 paper. In my opinion, it's not strong enough to go as postcards.
