I received @Don_ih 's "Virginia Creeper" (and agree that leaves provide interesting textures in photography), as well as @Jim Christie 's somehow eerie "Lakeshore". Thank you both!
mfohl's "Tire and Shadow"
The two white-trunked trees are probably ghost gums; I would have said Eucalypts, you'll perhaps be familiar with those in general but likely not this particular one. However, it now seems to be Corymbia aparrerinja (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corymbia_aparrerinja), who knew. Endemic to Central Australia. The darker tree is likely a she-oak or casuarina. I would have called the spiky grass porcupine grass, it looks a bit like spinifex but is apparently one of the triodias. Nasty pointy leaves that can break off in your skin and give you infections! It is very surprising the range of plants that grow in that extremely arid region, though the mean rainfall there is apparently about 12" (even if only 30 days a year have rainfall over 1mm).Received a very colourful and vibrant Australian landscape from @ChrisR - the photo is amazingly clear. That looks like it would be a great place to wander and dehydrate and blow away in the wind. I'm amazed you found some trees!
I thought I'd received all 5 of my dues
No extra charge for the vignette
Ah yes, sorry. I have, in truly random order, as they sit on my desk:It's good to mention when you get a postcard from someone. People who send like to know the card made it.
As for getting more, a lot of people sign up saying they'll send to everyone, so those who send fewer cards may end up getting more than they expect.
I've just now received the Waterman by @pamphoto - and what a gorgeous photo it is! A painterly image that really stands out. very beautiful, thank you so much! And printed on paper that's manufactured around the corner from me, imagine that!
Ha ha, that must be the yucca plant. They were in bloom then. I think they are pretty.@pamphoto -- I received your photo today, as well. I'm surprised by how thin the paper is and it made it without being in an envelope. I like the photo - especially the very nasty-looking think on the left-hand side. Looks a bit like a giant pineapple top...
