Just for planning purposes, how many are you thinking would be a good print run for round six? 15? 20?

The last round I think there was 21 or 23 and we won't know the definitive number until February is over because that's the sign up month. I think you would be safe to make 25 for right now. ( or 20 )
We have had almost 100% participation from Round #5 with the exception of one member who was not able to fulfill his responsiblities for his own personal reasons.
(we'll leave it at that).

What's great about the exchange is you do get ample time to complete and mail your cards out. So... make some now and be ready to mail them out when you get the mailing list.

we've got a few more this month.... it just may hit 30! I think it's at 26 at the moment with 1 in the wings.

We have had a discussion in the past that once it hits 30 that maybe we should split into two groups. Maybe we should revisit that topic again as we might hit that number next round.

Personally, I'm happy to print as many as join... I just like receiving them too much!

Never really thought about it, but at 30 participants, thats 870 cards (assuming all get sent off course) flying around the world!

You'll love it. It's great fun when the cards start falling through the letter box. In fact, out of all the exchanges this is my favourite. There's such a wide variety of styles and techniques on display. So far, I've seen my first Azo print, my first cyanotype (from a wet collodian plate no less!!), my first carbon print, my first polaroid transfer, my first van dyke and my first palladium print all sent as postcards.

The last postcard exchange(#5) was my first time sharing prints with anyone at APUG and it was quite a satisfying and fun experience. You will become addicted to it as I have. Getting the postcards in the mail is delightful.

Is it acceptable to put postcard-sized prints in an envelope? I might be printing on single-weight FB (not decided yet). I doubt that would hold up well in the post. There are no special postcard rates where I live, so no extra cost would be involved. Or does anyone feel very strongly about having stamps on the back of the print?

Some who print on light paper have drymounted them on 2-ply cardstock.

Do people usually print with a border? I imagine a small border might help protect the image area from knocks and bashes in the post.

Post card size is quite a bit smaller than I usually print and I'm trying to make best use of the available space and choose my image to print accordingly...

I generally print with a border just to make it simple (wack paper in easel, expose, grab another). I usually use a 80mm lens for 35mm negs (and 135mm for 645 negs) to get the enlarger head up out of the way a little bit more.

BTW, where sitting at 32 confirmed participants at the moment, which are...
