But I also have a big paper chopper - real handy for cutting film and colour paper in total darkness......

Yeah, the limitation of the Dahle I have is that it only cuts up to around 13" width. Fortunately, I get by just fine with 10" and 12" rolls for the most part, but it's nice to have something that can easily and accurately cut larger dimensions as well.

I have a wide roll (11 or 12 inches) of colour paper and cut it roughly into 14" strips using the paper guillotine and then cut those down a bit better with the trimmer. I had something set up to expose 4 different images on a big piece of paper to make development easier - but I almost always only ended up with one image that was exposed properly and stopped using it. I find colour a pain to deal with but fun at the same time....

Yeah, I can relate. In my case, limiting the thing to small(ish) prints and running them through a RT machine takes the worst of the edge off, though. That, and the mindset that you don't do a quick 1-hour session the way I can do with B&W. I commit for half a day or a day at a time. As long as I take that kind of time, it's nice.

"Old Steamer" from Minox arrived yesterday, but only after the postal service "had done a job on the envelope". It arrived with substantial water damage, and was badly wrinkled - part of the patina of this exchange. I am glad that the print did not stick to the envelope. This little steamer looks like a great place for kids to play. I am also intrigued by the equipment in the background.

Regards,
Darwin

So it does. Not sure why I thought it was August. Anyway, glad to see you've not been abducted!

Not been abducted but I have been thoroughly scanned and prodded over the last couple months. Hopefully some results next week.

Thanks for all your hard work. I hope you have good news. I seem to have been getting prodded more than usual of late.

Good side is meeting so many nice people. 😊

That would be great, @KitosLAB!

Here's how it works:
The postcard exchange is organized one round at a time. This means you can sign up for a round, and then for the round after that, you'd have to sign up again (if you want). Every round starts with a call where @George Nova Scotia asks who wants to participate. You contact him by sending him a private message, including your post address and the maximum number of cards you'd like to send/receive. He'll place you on the list, and once the list is done, each participant receives a list of names you're supposed to send your cards to. You send out the cards, and wait for nice ones to be sent to you. That's it! Once the addresses are sent out to each participant, a new thread is opened where the participants can report which cards they have received.

The next round will be PCX#60 and it's scheduled to start in September with a call for participants. Keep an eye on this forum and specifically for a thread titled "Postcard Exchange Round 60 Sign Up". Once that emerges (which will be in early September, I expect), you can sign up in that thread.

The more the merrier. The exchange used to require the image to be film-sourced but it's recently changed to allow digital images. Any kind of printing is allowed, also (enlarging, contact-printing, inkjet) - including alt processes like cyanotype. Most people go with enlarging to 4x6 or 5x7 paper. You can sign up to send any number of cards - up to the number of participants. Recently, there have been around 20 people per exchange. You can send your prints in envelopes or as postcards - that's up to you. Sometimes, cards may get lost in the mail (maybe to turn up 80 years later), and you shouldn't worry about that.

Yes. thanks for the clarification, I want to clarify more. I want to take my photos from the film, but print them at Ukrposhta at the main post office. This is a standard postcard and looks like this (photo from the official website of Ukrposhta). Will it comply rules? type-2.png

Yes, absolutely. Your photo, they print it, that's completely fine. That's a great service, by the way.

We're doing our best to have this a completely relaxed and fun exchange.

The exchange rules are quite flexible.
When I participated - 40+ rounds! - I used to work quite diligently to make sure that I complied with the postal service's rules, because that makes a real difference to the postage costs, and probably how quickly the cards get where they are sent.

Received Mancave from @MattiS - a very nice print. I gotta say, that shot is excellently exposed. Thanks!

I had a pack of Rollei Vintage - I really liked it.
